Ground Loop Isolator

I've just bought a ground loop isolator for the Connects2 box, only one minor issue. The input is 2 male phono's, the output is 2 female.

I want to place the box in between the jack plug and the Connects 2 box, therefore I could do with the inputs being female and the output's being male.
Does anybody know if the ground loop isolator can be fitted either way round or does it matter? If so then do I need a female - female adaptor on one end and another phono to phono lead on the other?

I think it can be fitted either way - you could try it and see if it gets rid of the whine (fitted the "wrong" way)...

Basic ground loop isolator is just a transformer with 1:1 ratio, if no other filter is included, you should be able to fit it either way round.
If there's no power input on the isolator box (meaning no active filter inside) it should be safe to try

Thanks.
I will try it - but not planning on pulling my dash apart until the weekend, but wanted to know if I should get the bits!
Will definitely try it first and see how I get on.

Hey,

If all else fails there are gender converters available to convert from female to male and vice-versa.

I've used a ground loop isolator in the the past but have never connected it the other way to see if there was any difference. However it must be labelled input & output for a reason and so I'd be inclined to say there may be a genuine reason for it to be connected a certain way.
Only a test will tell.

I have groundloop isolator connected to connects2box. It doesn't matter how it is connected, because "it is just a transformer" like jj69 said.

Thanks,
How well does it work? I take it you've got it between the mp3 player and connects2 box?
How much difference does it make?

Well, it's between laptop and connects2box. For me grouldloop isolator makes a huge difference. My laptop and all the cables etc. caused so much interference that it was impossible to listen music when driving. It was bad even when car was engine on, but I wasn't driving. (engine interference).
I bought isolator and that was the end of interference in my car. I really mean it stopped all interference problems.

It works! Thanks everyone.
I've fitted it the "wrong" way and there's now no audible inteference in the system and I can't notice any loss in quality either!
