Maybe you will need it, however do you have the honda built in sat nav and does the parrot fit in the CD changer port, if the parrot does fit in the cd changer port the dice unit also plugs into this port so perhaps the Y spltter cable would be so both of these fit into the one port, im not sure what the setup is like with the built in sat nav head unit.

The first two bits of the dash are easy to take off (the armrest and the bit around the gearstick) and then you look upwards and if we see three cables coming out of the back of the head unit then you need a splitter - if you only see two then you don't.

What version of the DICE did you order? When I got mine it had an option for the sat nav or non sat nav, with the sat nav version coming with a Y-cable.

Hi mate, where did you order your DICE system from, as I'm gonna need the Sat Nav version too (Y-Cable etc....)???

These are the guys...

Honda - DICE iPod Car Kit | Dension ice>Link Plus iPod Car Kit | iPod Car Kit Direct

Could get cheaper off ebay, but they had a reassuring option on the drop down: "2006-08 Civic With Sat Nav" which got me all the stuff including the Y cable. Don't forget to order an iPod cable as well!

I tried to fit it just by taking the bottom part of the dash up and reaching up behind the head unit which would work if you don't have sat nav (as there is no cable plugged in). However, the Sat Nav cable you have to take out is held in by a clip on top of the cable that you can't get at from below.

To be honest, I'm a complete duffer at this kind of thing and even I managed to follow the insructions and get it installed fine!

Yes, as the cable is specific to the DICE - I think the ordering a cable thing is just a bit of a con to get an extra £5, but I paid the extra for peace of mind.

I drilled a hole in the cubby above the gear lever and ran the cable through there. I haven't put a mounting at all - current plan is to leave the iPod in there (it fits with the cable, iPod and some random junk) though if it annoys me too much I'll probably buy a cheap magnetic mount and put it on the dash down to the left.

Same with me. That's my plan! Just worried my iPhone will move about in there when i a m driving. Think I might get a non slip surface in there.

Ive ordered and fitted mine i bought mine from ebay for £80 and it comes with the ipod cable in the box, the guy who sells them on ebay has a proper company called daltec AI limited Honda Dice iPod Car Kit - Daltec AI Ltd.

As long as you order the R3 version it will work in the new style civics, as for the y cable im sure he could supply them aswell, and it works out £20 cheaper.

dice fitting

Could I please check that my 2.2 sport model non sat nav.

Looks like the wiki has pointed me to a Dice product, for my Ipod, controlable using the stering wheel.

When fitting the Dice unit I could reach up and fit the new lead? If so, does it plug into a spare slot?
or
do I have to remove a plug, connect the Dice (male to female connector)and insert it back into the stereo?

hope that makes sense.

I wouldnt advise just reaching up unless u have small girly hands (hehe). Its easy enough to fully take the stero out. If you have a non sat nav model you dont need the y splitter, it just plugs straight in. There are a few "how to's" which you should print out and have in the car when you are doing it....
