...ROFL!!! Really brightened up my evening reading this thread, well done Honda, how to look like a complete and utter joke to your existing customers - and any potential new customers as well

Yep, as much as I love the Civic. Honda really aren't all they're cracked up to be.

Whether this is corporate arrogance setting in having produced a superb genre defining car, or the norm I don't know.

As I've probably said before , great car but will end up doing Honda's reputation no end of harm in the long term. This car falls way below the reputation that Honda have built up over the years. As a package, I certainly can't recommend it to anyone.

The accessories are mostly wildly overpriced, although this is in common with most manufacturers. However, the corner cutting (dare I say spare wheel amongst other things) is heavily overdone for a car at this price.

If you wait a short while, now that honda has produced one the aftermarket manufacturers will be producing them only cheaper then in a few months they will be on eBay from China much much cheaper

It's the sensible approach to overcharging.

I totally agree about their reputation being dented; some of these prices are criminal. However, I had a Shuttle about 5 years ago and it made a big hole in my bank balance when I had to replace the brakes, so maybe I shouldn't be surprised.

I agree with those sentiments.

I'm going to give the new Corsa 3 door, a road test over the next few days, with a view to trade in on it's first birthday. (Charles, it has a rear wiper !)
I'll keep you posted.

Do we know what level of functionality the Honda iPod link will provide?
If it is full integration, i.e. you can select music from the iPod using the dashboard and wheel controls and see the music info on the Civic screen (in an EX) then it might not be too bad.

If it is an Aux in / charging solution only then it's not good.

It may provide the same solution as BMW which is half way between the two. On the BMW iPod link, you set up 6 playlists in iTunes with specific names like CD 1, CD 2, etc. Then when you connect to the car you can select just these 6 playlists as is they were CD's in a changer. Again not ideal as you don't get track info and are limited to only a part of your music.

I really dont care. All that would need to happen is apple to change the connector in the next gen of ipods, and its pretty much useless.

I'd prefer aux input; as I've got a 2gb Ipod Nano and a 60Gb Creative Zen, the Zen is a bit big and rarely goes out with me anymore; but it'd be perfect stowed away in the car!

Since the dock connector came out it has not changed.
They have used a 25 pin connector to ensure they have plenty of expansion pins for future requirements, so I don't expect it will change for a long while yet.

I'm not an expert on the use of these but if its as I 've been informed it will be fully integrated with your current Dash/wheel controls with the unit sat safely out of harms way as not to distract you ( too much ) from controlling the car!!

£225 for the i-Pod link?

Yes that is pricey.

How about the £200 for those two blue LEDs under the dash.

That's robbery!!!

My dealer contacted Honda and told me that they had no idea about the link and the earliest would be April
There is a USA version but he could not confirm if that would work on the EU model

To be honest with you £225 all in with fitting and vat for a fully intergrated ipod link is about right. A Dension icelink (proper hard wired not FM transmitter version) would cost you around £200 fully fitted.

However if this official Honda link is just an aux socket then the people responsible for pricing it at £225 should be taken out and shot.
