I suppose I am in good position at the moment as I have not bought my civic yet and I see that everything is negotiable. If you don't ask you don't get. However, you might get a sympathetic dealer to knock some money off if you have bought your car already

Just ordered the Connects2 cable (vhox001) from ebay. It was only 23£.

It is the same adapter that Pottsy ordered, excluding the cd-changer cable (extra from Honda) that the EX Civics have.

I asked about the Civic fitting on Connects2 forum, and they think it should work.

Well I will see if it works in January when I get my Civic

It was only 23£, if it won't work, so I am fine with it...

I never made an issue of the cost of the car, I was stating that the Sat Nav + all the other toys (The EX is basically a Sport with extras) are cheaper from Honda than from VW. The Golf and the Civic are similar priced cars in a similar class so hence my comparison. VW want up to 2k for the Sat Nav alone (and it's not as good as the Honda one) making it a very expensive option.

WTF does the M3 have to do with it?

LOL -Do you know what, I have no idea. I have read back the posts and cannot imagine why I put that. Even checked to see if I had quoted someone else post by mistake... Nope. You did'nt edit your original post to make me look like a plank did you . Must have made sense at the time tho'

Cannot even blame it on a late night, it was evening when I posted. Sorry if I caused offence,

I think I'll just wait for the official cable and then make up my mind about this. Might even stick with my MP3 cds at that price.

Hey,

was in a Honda dealer today he was explaining about the official IPOD link in the S-Type. Its basically an aux in cable, nothing more, no controls on steering wheel etc other than volume, no display on NAV screen. He said the parts were £150 and another £100 labour as a large part of the dash has to be removed.

I don´t know how much installing will cost. Will ask a local car audio installer here in Finland when I get my Civic.

Here is a link to the Connect2 forum, where I asked about the adapter.

http://www.connects2.com/forum/default.asp?b=8

Just choose AUX Interface Adapters on the left...

Ipod retro instal

Has anyone successfully connected an ipod to a Civic (ES) using the CD changer input ?

Lots of discussion here but I dont think someone has actually done it and been able to use the head unit controls .

I am getting old and Mum always said i couldnt see things if they were under my nose .. so please humour me .

Name of supplier / part number etc would really make me happy !

Thanks

I think that Nadz has done it, using a newly available Dension Connector. As of yet however, we are yet to find out which Part number or Supplier Nadz used, so we are all really still in the dark......

I for one, am really anxious to find out how to get this sorted once and for all, as it seems to be becoming a bit of a farce all round.......

AND.......i'm sick of seeing that there is new posts in this section about iPod, then looking at them expecting someone to have finally put up some suppiler details or photos or something AHHHH!!!

You get free OS upgrades from TomTom but you don't get free Map upgrades. You will have to buy the latest maps every year from TomTom when they are released. They cost me about £55 when I bought the last version.
