Hello,
I can't find the answer to these questions in Wiki so hopefully someone out there will know the answers? Q1) Does the cd player only play WMA type files or does it play MP3? Q2) Do you create an MP3 cd in the same format as you do for WMA? (I found the link on how to do this in the Wiki). Q3) Which file type gives the best sound output - Mp3 or WMA? Q4) What type of disc is best and can you use 80min cd's and do DVD's work? Thanks for your help |

DVD's don't work. You can do WMA or MP3, the advantage of using WMA is that you will be able to fit more songs on the disc than if you used MP3
Have you got Nero Burning software? |

Here's a cut and paste from wikipedia (note that WMA is made by microsoft): "Microsoft claims that audio encoded with WMA sounds better than MP3 at the same bit rate; Microsoft also claims that audio encoded with WMA at lower bit rates sound better than MP3 at higher bit rates. Double blind listening tests with other lossy audio codecs have shown varying results, from failure to support Microsoft's claims about its superior quality to supremacy over other codecs. One independent test conducted in May 2004 at 128 kbit/s showed that WMA was roughly equivalent to LAME MP3; inferior to AAC and Vorbis; and superior to ATRAC3 (software version). Another test performed by ExtremeTech showed different results, however, placing WMA at the top of the list in terms of quality." |

You need to get a program like 'Nero' which can copy the CD.
You can also get programs like CDex which converts songs into MP3 format. |

If you do use Nero, then when you create a CD use the 'Create Jukebox CD' function and you can fit around 16 albums on one cdr in mp3 format, about the same as you can in wma format.

I have just used Nero to convert an album from mp3 format to wma format, to compare the size of the files. There were 18 tracks on it. In mp3 format it was 55 mb and in wma format it was 52 mb, so not much difference really. |
