| This thread is about: Possible iPod solution?, it's in Ipods, MP3 Players and ICE at the Honda Civic forum Civinfo; I'll see if it does it on the way home, BTW it was on the folder screen if that helps... | ||

hello everybody,
I believe that there is a setting that turns on the mystery female voice, I believe it to be EX only though, and it hides in the sat nav settings menu, can't remember what it is called but it basically just reads out whatever is selected on screen be it a button or what ever i.e. the "tab" for favorite places. Could be wrong though, Cheers Elis |

Cable: CA-DC300U
Quote:
YorkshirePud, I found 2 UK suppliers and sent emails mid October but didn't recv any replies confirming the cable was suitable for the Civic. I'm sure it was the same part number. Thought I'd posted info but can't find anything. I'll route out the emails and post the company names. I'm sure I found it for a bit less than £40 - but memory aint wot it used to be.............er! ++++++++++++++++++++ MotorWorld do the CA-DC300N lead for £39.99 (Is this the older lead?) (cf CA-DC300U) http://www.motor-world.co.uk/show_pr...&prod_id=11140 Or do we need CD-IB100 - another genuine Panasonic piece of kit for 2nd gen iPods http://www.motor-world.co.uk/kroozin...p?prod_id=8206 - £70 http://www.dixons.co.uk/product.php?...amp_id=froogle - £50 + £10 deliv This box and leads appears to give full control and power. I know that the Blaupunkt iPod interface does not work with factory fitted Blaupunkt stereos. If I hear anything I'll be sure to post a note on the forum. Regards Jason www.ktduk.com |

Many thanks for the info, Miggins - it's good to hear you've been thinking along the same lines as me. The second link you posted to would be the link lead for the older Pioneer head unit. Your first link is the Panasonic equivalent apparently in the later Civic models, and is almost identical except for the suffix - the US ones I linked to earlier were "CA-DC300U" -- yours is "CA-DC300N." I assume the difference is simply administrative due to selling the parts in different countries, and that the leads themselves are identical.
What we now need to work out is: a) What the model number of our head units is? (Do the units come out easily, and if so, how?) b) Do these head units share the same "iPod port" that Panasonic advertises on it's other 2006 car stereo units? It would be great to see a picture of the back of one of these (Panasonic models CQ-C5303, 7303, 7703, 8403 and 8803), but I've yet to track one down online. If I can work out how to get the head unit out I'll have a look at the model number, and will try to find out what the Panasonic iPod port looks like from a local dealer in the meantime. If anyone else can help, do shout up! I know mp3 CDs are a great workaround, but it'd be satisfying to be able to link up an iPod and forget about it! |

Remember head units are different between models. I know the basic unit on my Sport is different to those fitted to EX's. If you can get the cubby hole flap off (just in front of the gear stick) you could easily get your hand behind the dash to fit a lead - asked how to get this flap off some time back, but never found a solution. As for photos - a dash removal is necessary and I'm sure Pottsy has done this somewhere - searching now! Found it: [HOW TO] Get into the dash |

LOL
Fisher Price - does it pick up any better than the ELC one I have? On other . . . . er Forums it has been clearly stated (if not proven) that the leads/kits for US Civics are not suitable. Last edited by Miggins; 8th November 2006 at 11:57. |

YorkshirePud,
It doesn't look like the Panasonic CA-DC300N lead is compatible. I've had an email back from a very helpful chap, Jason at KTDUK. He has sent me some other links which I will check out and if suitable post the details. -----Original Message----- From: KTD UK Ltd [mailto:info@ktduk.com] Sent: 15 November 2006 15:03 To: Subject: RE: Panasonic CA-DC300N iPod adapter - (Panasonic CA-DC300N) Hi, Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. We don't have the Panasonic CA-DC300N in stock but we can get it. It is back on our website here http://www.ktduk.com/site/product.cf...3701AA18572EC4 I spoke to my supplier about compatibility with OEM Honda head units and he said it would not be compatible. Please don't hesitate to link to anything from our website, or contact me with any queries. Best regards Jason www.ktduk.com |
