I'm also having radio problems similar to those described in this thread. Essentially the radio has very poor reception, and much worse than any other car I've driven in the same area (Cambs). My dealer has had the car in for a day, checked the wiring, and confirmed that the radio has the latest firmware. They were unable to fix the problem, and if anything have made the reception marginally worse by their fiddling. They say they'll contact Honda to see what they advise, so I await developments with bated breath.
It seems to me that it can't be an inherent design problem if some cars exhibit the problem and some don't. I wonder if it could be a batch problem (e.g. a specific batch of head units have the fault). Is there anyone living somewhere just north of Cambridge who doesn't have the problem in a similar car to mine (2.2 Sport 57 plate), who would be willing to meet to do a side-by-side comparative test of radio reception?

I think the reason some have problems, and some don't may be related to where they live.

In a strong signal strength area, my Honda radio is fine. However, in a mediocre signal strength are where other cars are adequate, the Honda is not very good at all, and in a poor signal strength area where other cars are usable with some drop outs, the Honda radio is unusable.

I would have suspected the rear window based aerial, but my previous Honda had pretty good radio performance with a similar antenna, and my BMW has a really excellent radio with a window based antenna.

Why oh why Honda dont you just address (properly) all the customer complaints about your latest car , dont you have a hell of a reputation to uphold (which is slowly slipping away) , the radio is such a simple and cheap fix so why dont you do something about it (fm signal booster) do you realy think even though most people love to drive this car (in whatever form) you are not going to get slated in the latest J D Power survey (yes people that are purchasing a new car take this into consideration) do you not think you will sell more cars if everybody is happy and telling other people so (ont telleverone that you are happy with sales and dont want to sell any more cars than you are currently doing) SO LETS HAVE IT SORTED OUT BEFORE WE START A KNACKERED CIVIC SHOW ON MTV.

I was told in July 2006 by a manager from HUK who had come to the dealership to look at my car that they were aware of the radio problems, he listened to my radio heard the static and it kept cutting out he said that as soon as a solution had been found I would be notified............................ 16 months later im still waiting, I did ask Steve Oliver at HUK in several letters if he could please tell me what was happening but he told me that HUK were not prepared to correspond with me at all and to stop writing to them

sorry mat but in my case it is fade -weak transmission area - I very rarely (if at all) get interference and have driven through the same area in a vauxhall corsa, vauxhall astra, peugeot 406, audi A4 and get the exact same thing

Fading is different to interference - clearly your super civic pasts the test again

after seeing the TG review of the CTR I checked out JC's review on The Times website, interestingly he writes:

"And on top of all this the car I drove could not find Radio 2. It just locked on to Radio 1, which completed my discomfort as surely as if I’d slammed my head in the door."

So did he have radio problems, as Radio 2 is always a pain in the arse to get

shouldn't the lack of Radio 2 be a plus point?

Probably Clarkson trying to be funny. Insisting that only chav's drive CTR's, hence Radio 2 is locked out.

He really cracks me up at times.
