Bassworks and rear speakers

Did a few ests on the speakers the other day (basically sending all the music to one speaker at a time to see if they were wired up correctly).
When i got round to RR and RL, they both sound the same and both are on when selecting rear left and rear right (both in mono).

Is this supposed to be like this or is it how the bass works system is?

Just want to know before i take my car up to have it's boot aligned correctly.

Many thanks

Stu

Assuming you have bassworks, this is correct. Bass is non-directional sound, which is the reason people put bass bins in the boot -- it doesn't matter.

Anyway, because it's non-directional, you cannot easily distinguish between the L and R bassworks speaker. It may even be wired such that both come on at the same time anyway.

The corollary is that it's nothing to worry about.

that's good news then.

I will just put the treble up a tad more so i hear a greater stereo sound.

Thanks BG.

As we've discussed a number of times, bassworks is pretty lame for the money. I recommend leaving the bass setting in the HU as neutral, and upping the treble a little to take the edge off the nasty bass.

Now mine's bedded in, it sounds a lot better.

Agreed - mine is getting better as time goes on - it sounded really nasty when I first picked the car up,
