Finally installed my Kenwood double din

I've finally install my new Kenwood double din head unit!

It took ages to work out how to do it, and getting it to work properly, but it's in, working and I'm very happy.

The steering wheel controls work, the air-con and the clock are there, and it sounds great.

Best thing is I did it all myself!

Head unit was £600, a lot of money but it's got HFT and garmin sat nav, Ipod connector, basically everything I wanted.

I live in Colchester, where's you?

Did you use a interface for the steering control buttons to work.

Yep, Kenwood make an interface which goes between the controls and the stereo.

Screen is always there, doesn't fold away.

It's a DNX5220BT.

The old headunit is in the back of the glove box, coz my car is a Type S GT with dual zone climate there wasn't really any space behind the dash to hide it.

Great work!

I am preparing to install an ALPINE 2din

One small question regarding original headunit.

Do we have information regarding the connectors that HONDA uses (manufacturer, manufacturer part number) ?

I am thinking to install the original headunit in the trunk, in order to have control to clock and dual zone climate and I need to make an extension cable of the original wiring without cutting any wires.

I spent weeks looking for matching connectors, without sucess.

I was told by the Honda dealer that they could only be brought as part of a complete loom, and that's £600!!!!

The only other way I can think of is to get them from a write off.

Got the same problem here!
The thing is that the connectors have no infomration on them to give us a clue who is the maker or the type.
Perhaps are custom made for HONDA.
