Amplifier wiring connections for 2007 honda Civic LX
Q1:
Ascuze moi if this ain't the right locale to ask the question, but am having a devil of a time determining the right "blue" wire for the wiring harness that runs out of the back of the OEM HU in my 07 Civic. There is a blue/orange (A16/A8 ) pair for the right rear speaker and a blue for the power on lead for an amp. See the attached honda supplied wiring schematic. What voodoo is used to verify the correct blue wire is the speaker wire vs the power-on lead to run to the amp. Are the pin-outs on the wiring harness labelled as per the attached wiring diagram? If you've had yours apart can you comment on what you experience? That would help me blow something up... Q2: I am installing a 4 channel Alpine amp. What is the preferred approach to running the speaker connections to the amp (line-in)? Cut the wires eminating from the OEM HU 8-12 " from the unit and run these directly to the AMP and then run the amp outs back and connect up to the cut wire connections? Doing this, I'll not have to run to the speakers as the factory wiring in place is already there. Good plan/bad plan?? thx. W. MacKenzie Ottawa, Canada |

Going by your location you would be in a US/Canadian civic? If correct its likely rather different to the ones we have here. Maybe someone more technically minded can assist you though.

The standard used amplifier in the radio is a "bridged" type amplifier.
This means you have no ground reference for the signal and you need a special filter or input on your power amp. If you do not exactly know what you are doing, you will destroy the output section of the radio. If the amplifier is not made specially for your car, do not use it unless you know your stuff. |
