Hi callvinit, the official opinion by members here is that the Honda connector is a bit pants. What does it actually let you do? ie can you scroll through artists, albums, songs and playlists? Or is it as random as suggested?

It's not random, no, but other than setting up a limited number of playlists, there's no way of selecting the music YOU WANT TO LISTEN TO, using the either the ipod, or the HU controls.

If no playlists exists, it just goes sequentially, or randomly through the artists, or randomly through songs.

This might work well for you if you have an ipod nano and very little music, but try using it for 50+ albums and you'll soon get frustrated.

Ouch, if it's this then there's no advantage over this than the itrip, apart from maybe the screen.
Try to get a portable FM radio in your car and see if you can tune that in to the H/K unit? But I'd definitely complain!!

Check the functionality before you get too excited. Often these lower cost solutions only allow you to select from the playlists, not browse for an album or track as with the ipod itself.

Just a quick update - fiddled about with various settings on both the ipod and the H+K and sound quality is much improved. Also the radio had bass and treble set to +6... didn't help either.

Much happier now -

I still wouldn't be happy with it being FM in. You may find that going from area to area it gets better & worse depending on how many radio stations are broadcasting in the area.
However glad it's better for you.

Got free mats as a "sorry" for it being the wrong connector. Ok - not ideal, but it now actually better than the itrip as with the recent improved sound quality, I am now pretty sure they hardwired it into the FM connector.

Yes it does. I'm getting it...I know everyone has said its rubbish, but I can live with the limited interface options...had an itrip for about 3yrs now and they are, frankly, useless (where I live anyway).

how have you found this now after a little while of usesage?

did they have to trim down the lcd unit to fit in that space or does it slot in no bother

As an aside to this ongoing thread....

Only other car I was interested in before discovering the Type S was the Leon FR TDi. Just been back to the seatcupra website and it seems that the ipod connex in the Leon is as s**t as ours is....which made me feel better.....until I remembered that it only costs 90quid in the Seat.

Here are a few pics showing the installation in its finished state - sorry, no how to pictures.

The fit apparently was done by a Bedford based company calles Autotronics.

Hope this gives a few people the info they need on how the H+K kit can be put in?

I have to tinker with the sound quality - so far I'd describe it as adequate, but not as good as my Dension Icelink.
Now that you have had this for a month and a bit hows your thoughts on the unit now?

Hi all, I've dipping in an out of this thread for a while. I picked up my ES last week. Bought a Connects2 lead from Halfords for £49.99. Dealer fitted it in about 30mins with no problems at all. (printed out extracts from various threads to assist him) I don't own an Ipod, on principle, but use a Rio Carbon and Zen Vision M. It may not charge via the car, or print titles etc, BUT it works, it sounds great and by virtue of the fact that both players have in built equalisers, compensates greatly for the abysmal standard sounds set up. No brainer!.

Until someone comes up with a proper, fully integrated solution it seems madasadads is best.
