The sound quality always depends on the signal situation, i.e. I get interference about half of the time, which is noticable. On balance, I think I'd rather go for a dashmounted icelink like I have in my other car. Ideal would be the same integration i have now wired into the AUX to get rid of the interference of the FM fudge. However, considering that this was put as a free extra, I am not too aggravated. |

As I am picking up my car tommorow (finally...after 7 weeks) but I really want to connect my ipod as I am fed up as hell with just single CD's. However looking at the various solutions...to be honest an aux in is all I want as I usually set my ipod to random!!
So the Connect 2 from Halfords....do I need a specific one for the Civic are do they only have 1 type?? |

Have a look at the Wiki here and my setup here for more info. If you don't have an EX then you don't need the Honda loom (Y cable). Not wishing to upset you, but it might have been an idea to get the dealers to do it when they were putting your dash back together, as this install requires you to take half your dash apart again!!! |

Bog, after all the crap I have had to put up with ..... the car will just stay as it is for a while longer. Will sort out the Connects2 thing at a later date. I have a contact who will fit it for me anyway....and he knows all about the trim so I have no worries there.
I have also found an ebay seller with it for £29.99. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...6852&rd=1&rd=1 I trust this is the correct one?? |

Resurection time.
This is just thinking out loud, but input is appreciated if I'm missing something all together or just being really daft. I'm just sitting wiring up the Parrot Handsfree for installation tomorrow and thinking about this H&K Drive & Play Aux in/out problem. So far the only solution would appear to be a Connect 2 box. Why? Can't we just splice into the existing loom to mimic an AUX CD changer? What does the Connect 2 do that a direct splice can't? As I also sit here converting my 27Gb of AAC files to MP3's, I'm trying to work out what is so difficult about the wiring in situation. I know that we will never get the track info or steering wheel controls to work, but with an H&K system does it really matter. The problem appears to be tricking the HU into thinking there is an Aux unit fitted. Now as my SE won't have any fancy-dan Sat Nav (other than my N70 with Tom Tom Mobile), it will be a standard Honda HU. Can anyone supply me with pictures of the rear connections on a NON Sat Nav HU? How Many connections are there into the back of the HU? I have a SIO Comms connection here for a 17 pin socket which incorporates the Speakers, Power, Etc. for installing the Parrot. Now all but five of those wires are asigned a name. 8 are speaker wires; a red +12 Power; a black Ground -; an orange Car Light; a yellow +12 Memory. The remaining 5 are: Pink White Grey Yellow/Blue - This is a slightly heavier guage of wire than the others (matches the 12v wire). The other wires are thinner than the standard 12v/earth wires. Grey/Blue Now I assume that none of these are the aerial judging by previous posts, as I assume the mini co-ax attaches via a small two/three pin plug. I also know that some of these wire must connect to the dash. I am really curious about what the pink connects to as there was a loose pink wire on the loom. Answers on a postcard please! Now looking at the Connects 2 Wiki, there is a third port (?) as this connector block looks totally different to mine, and mine is the correct Honda block (I hope) according to SIO Communications. Now if I have no sat nav or cd changer this port should be empty, or does it also connect to the steering controls? If so and there are free pins then these must surely be the AUX connection pins. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm? Can I ask why no one has pusued a wiring diagram for the stereos as yet? Last edited by The Phantom; 17th May 2007 at 17:57. |

Have a look here at what I posted yesterday, it might help you. The diagram is the back of an EX HU, but the port is the same on the other non sat nav models (It's the CD Changer port). I think the info's out their somewhere it's just tracking it down. If you work on the basis that most Honda HU's use the same port/connector, I think it's probably safe to assume they use the same data protocol. And seeing as the company that makes this device (Ability to show ipod text on HU display! - That made you look |
