How To burn MP3's for the Civic Radio?

Hello,

I have a question. Must I burn the MP3's in the root of the CD or can i also make maps on the cd?

When all songs are standing in only the root than there will be a lot of skipping and less music i think

you can create sub folders for the grouping you require, eg album level or artist level and so forth

.... but be careful not to create to many levels or the disc becomes slow for the player to read

You can do both, in the root and in subfolders.

I think it is worth using folders rather than putting all files on the root, the car will play anything in the root by alphabetical order (assuming the ID3 tags are not included, there are threads somewhere on this).

I hope I got that right, I am not an expert!

im confused how some of you are getting over 20 songs on a normal CD, a normal CD can hold 74 minutes of music which is about 20 songs.

so i am wondering how you are managing to get so many songs on such a small CD

a wait ignore that last comment.

when you burn as MP3's you burn them as data files not a audio files.

which means that the computer doesnt decompress them lol. a was a wonderful thing being tired is

You can make folders, that's no problem, I guess if the root is empty you will always start with "Folder 2". Just remember to finalize the CD or else the skipping between the folders can take a looooong time. With a good VBR encoder and using "joint stereo" you can pack 100-200 songs in quite reasonable quality on one CD.

Yes, to some extent.

It will show filename and album.

See here for examples from a satnav car:

It still picks up the info - but it is displayed on the smaller radio display.

But - it is not ALL id3 data - only some.
