Radio Ga Ga

Further to the other radio faults mentioned on this site (RDS, general reception etc..) here's a strange one - Started Civ - display lights up, radio station name shown etc but no sound on any Source (radio,CD, ipod). Pulled over, turned ign off, turned on, works agian!?

Anyone experienced the same?

Hi

We have two Civic ES at work, and they both suffered from the same problem when we had a nokia phone kit installed and it muted the radio. When the call finished the radio sound would not come back on. switched ignition off and back on again and it worked ok. Have now cut the muting cable and it works fine. I have been told there is a special amp that allows for the radio muting and so the phone goes through the car speakers. It's £40 plus fitting so I am going to get work to pay for it next month.

Yes, had that twice. No Radio blah blah at all, then all came back into life. I think Beyonce was playing one time, so maybe it's just a clever filter that muffles out whining divas!!

Also on a couple of occasions the radio has managed (don't ask me how) to tune itself into two stations at once!! It's not like it's been caught between two stations, but rather than you can actually here one on top of the other. Afterwards I did a a scan and it tuned to both stations with a clear signal for each.

Have to say that the Civic's radio is pretty poor, but then again I listen to CDs mostly so it doesn't bother me. Moreover, I find that nowadays, most commercial stations (especially with their breakfast shows) have a total of about 6 CDs which they play day after day after day. There's no art in DJing anymore, you just have to have a "crew" which laughs falsely at every word you utter (like you're the king of comedy) and the latest falsetto (whoops, got my thingy caught in my zip) rubbish from that Justin Timberlake lad. And don't even get me started on the noise that Shakira makes!!

yes, the radio is a bit of a sad thing....... i just use the radio for my FM transmitter and to listen to the news/TA

rest of time it plays mp3 cds and my samsung mp3 player........that's why i want a 3.5mm jack and not a crappy apple-you-must-use-iTunes-ipod adapter but don't get me started on ipods eh??

I have a similar problem.... My Civic is 1 month old and had never had any problem.
This morning, I started the engine and .... no radio sound.

The screen shows the radio name, find radios when searching etc... but absolutely no sound. Turned ign off, turned on .... no more sound. Once, sound came back (I don't know how) but it was again disapeared this evening when I took the car !

It is "normal" radio without bluetooth and Navi...

can you help ?

I HAVE an EXecutive ...
... but I stay in France and bought the car in Spain, to earn money with taxes and also to get possibility to have Ivory leather without buying the expensive Navigation system that I did not want, that is not possible in France...

The sound problem is still here this morning...

What you have as an Executive is not the EX that we have in the UK

That solves that one

It is a sad day when we have to reboot not only our PCs but also our cars.
