Ipod Adapter

I know this is a repost but havn't been able to find any answers.

Ok ordered my Type-R last week and paid for the Ipod adapter In my current car its hooked upto a Alpine HU and is so cool.

Had a go in the Type-R demonstrator and it played random tracks. Anyway to select an album???

Also the guy said something about making a Honda playlist???

Only plus points are you can control with steering wheel controls and means you can have X amounts of GB of music.

Ah don't be fooled by it's apparent attractions. It is rubbish. You can make 7/8 playlists named 'Honda1', 'Honda2' and so forth. You can only play these playlists so if you decided on the motorway you want to listen to the latest Garth Brooks album....no can do. I also had an alpine HU and it was excellent, full control over everything. The Honda connection is a half assed attempt to cover up the oversight in not including one as standard in the first place!

We are working on a solution, but it's not as easy as we would have hoped!

I have been reading up on the solution. Does look good But I love how you can control the Ipod on the steering wheel. It may meen I just have to delete all the crap off my ipod and then make Honda1, etc different genres for how I am feeling.

Also does the MP3 CD player play CD RWs?

I put a CD-R stuffed full of MP3s and also a CD-RW brimmed with WMAs (wanted to check it worked with both) on the test drive and it played both with no problems.

yeah you can listen to a whole ablum. You need to go into the setup menu and then select the ipod control function (not sure what it is called). Then you can (pull over) select the song/artist/album you want and hit play!

Cheers for that Nadz. I think someone should write a definitive guide to this piece of kit as nobody seems entirely sure how it works.

Yeah I agree. Even getting into the setup menu is a bit tricky and the manual you get with the link is no use

Oh great...something to look forward to when I pick it up!! Seeing as you seem to know a bit more than most Nadz, do you have to set up the Honda1-7 cr*p in your itunes or does the link just convert your existing playlists to this? How much can you control through the steering wheel (apart from volume!!)?
Sorry if this has been covered, but its all bloody confusing as to just what the s*dding thing will and wont let you do!!

Markuk,

See here for some more info http://http://www.civinfo.com/wiki/i..._an_MP3_player

I know some Dealers will fit the connects2 or you could have a go yourself - especially if you've got an Sat Nav built in, because then you will have to pay for that extra bit of loom.

Right no-one ever got back but from what I have read:

Honda1-7 = playlists (max 99 or will start from 1 again)

Disc 8 = Random

Disc 9 = Album already playing on Ipod?

Is this right?
