Aftermarket Speakers
I have seen alot of people have fitted infinity front speakers. I have been an Alpine man for the last few years and love my current setup. The new sound system is extremly poor in the new Civic.
One guy had the following fitted into a new Civic EX by Dalco on the CTR forum: JL AUDIO CLEANSWEEP DLS CA51 5 channel amplifier DIAMOND D3 6" components DIAMOND D3 6" co-ax MA QXNEO 10" slim subwoofer Stinger oxygen free cabeling Now I have had a brief read up on the JL Audio Cleansweep and alot of people don't seem to impressed by this kit. I would love to go down the route of the 07 Alpine Type-R Components upfront and Type-R Co-axials in the rear powered by an amp. Would also like another amp to power a sub. But what is the SQ going to be like? Anyone come up with a good idea yet for setup like the above? |

I too am an Alpine man, and have JL speakers in my current car. I will be try the built in Stereo system in the Civic when I pick it up for a week or so and if I don't like it, I'm off to the local car hifi specialist.

Griffyn,
I made mention of the Dalco stuff here, and have emailed them and asked if they'd like to join in. I too have always had Apline - but only as a head unit (and one or two amps). The best HU I've ever had or heard was the 7878, which had the F1 internals. If I were to try and get decent sounds out of the Civ, I'd firstly have low hopes when using the Pio HU, and I think I'd be reluctant to put a DSP box between the speaker outputs and the amp. But there's no other good solution (that I can think of), especially when you have the EX with all the bits in. Let's hope that Dalco come along! |

Sorry Pottsy didn't know it was already posted up. Seems like a real option to get better sounds from the car without ruining the lovely dash. I do love aftermarket sounds and the Bass Works was so poo when I heard it. This is the one area of the car that is lacking.
TBH though for the first few months the engine will make up for the poor HIFI, but will defo want to try and sort something out! |

What about the Alpine Hub is that a real alternative as well?
Just trying to think of ways to get good sounds with OEM headunit and steering wheel controls intact. |

It seems the Alpine Hub doesn't connect upto the Honda.
But Gav@evolutionice.com on the CTR forum posted the below: Alpine are just about to release a new system called Imprint. This is similar to the cleansweep system in that it resets the output EQ from the factory source unit. It should be available by the end of march. http://crave.cnet.com/8301-1_105-9675464-1.html http://www.caraudiomag.com/features/0605_cae_2006_ces_top_ten_picks/photo_01.html http://www.soundandvisionmag.com/carstereo/2135/road-gear-alpine-pxe-h650-system-integration-processor.html http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?p=422031 Now lets hope this will be a real good alternative to sorting out some decent sounds in the new Civic. |
