New member: Ordered Honda Civic 1.8i Sport
Hi all,
I am new on this forum. I found out this forum yesterday and my lease company ordered the Honda Civic 1.8i Sport (Black) last week. The options I included are: HID (xenon) and Concert package (Bass Works: co-axial speakers + bass upgrade). The car will be deliverd as of 2nd June 2007. I am really looking forward to it, since I am coming from peugeot 206 1.6-16v and peugeot 206 2.0-16v GTI. Both cars did not meet my expectations. However, I am reading on this forum that the Bass Works system is disappointing. I am not able to build in own subwoofers and amplifiers since it is a company car. So I'll just have to deal with it. I did e-mail the Honda dealer today that I want the Bass Works amplifier built into the glove compartment instead hidden in the dashboard. Anyway, I will be checking this forum frequently Regards from the Netherlands. |

Hi speed of light - not a company car but similar requirement for me - and from a couple of the posts seems like the bass works need a lot of running in but then sound quite good (Harps etc...).
Sadly got 49 days to go till I see my lovely spaceship Alex |

My Honda Dealer (Amsterdam) called me yesterday telling me that they will deliver my Honda Civic 1.8i next week instead of 2nd June. So the sooner the better The Honda Dealer told me that they will install the Bassworks amplifier into the dashboard and not in the glove compartment untill instructed by Honda HQ otherwise. I dont understand where this "policy" comes from... Anyway, you might receive your Honda sooner then you may think since the original delivery time seems to be estimated roughly... Ciao. My lease company (ING Carlease, Breda) told me that I was not allowed to install my own woofer and amplifier, because they're afraid that I will damage the car when I install / uninstall the woofer and amplifier. My last lease company (Leaseplan) reacted similarly, but there I installed an active woofer hooked to my own JVC car radio, so I did not have to drill/screw the woofer/amplifiers, since the amplifier was built in the woofer. But anyway, I hope the Bassworks sounds great. p.s.: does anyone know whether the MP3 player in the car stereo shows/scrolls title and artist information??? |

Seems as though Meino's got the right idea.
I rented a 'brand new, just delivered' Cortina many years ago, and to get the kiddie seats to fit I had to drill holes in the rear parcel shelf, no-one has complained to this day! Just be discreet! "Under capitalism, man exploits man. Under communism, it's precisely the opposite!" Charles H. |

And no, it doesn't scroll it displayes (up to) 11 characters at a time. Best to have the artist displayed rather than track title I find.

Received: Honda Civic 1.8i Sport
Dear all,
Today I picked up my black Honda civic 1.8i Sport in Amsterdam. The additional extra's were: HID (xenon) and the infamous BassWorks package (Concert package) which included the co-axial front speakers and the Bassworks rear speakers. My first driving impression: The car feels very comfortable and reacts immediately. The Honda sales staff member recommended me to go easy with the engine the first 300 km. So I didn't cross the 4.000 RPM barrier. I am only afraid that I shift accidentally into the Reverse (R) instead of the 6th gear, since these are next to each other. However, I drove a lot in 2500 - 3000 RPM and it really feels easy going and not insistent at all. According to my granny and I quote:"the car is like an airplane, as if there are no wheels under the car..." Headturners & looks: The car's looks are definitely its time ahead. Some people complimented me and I had a lot of headturners today! People just kept watching! Sound system: I opted for the BassWorks systems & the co-axial speakers as I mentioned before. I must admit and follow other forum members: the BassWorks system is not worth 700 EUR! I just don't feel the depth of a real bass speaker. It seems that the BassWorks speakers are adjusted on an input level which is too high in some kind of way which results in a woolly bass sound. Anyway, can't help it anymore with except of adjusting to the ideal settings and accepting it as a fact of life. Further, it bothers me that the display of the head unit can't scroll the MP3 track titles!! I have to press the DISP button to see the rest of the title track. Honda should have paid more attention to this detail, since most of the current MP3 radio's & players support scrolling title tracks. Other: Other details such as the cup holders at the front and at the back is very appreciated. In additon, I like the futuristic look of the gauges etc. Minor: My rear left door doesn't seem to open from the inside! I think the dealer trashed the rear left door when installing the bass speaker. So I have to go back to repair this. Anyway, just wanted to share my experience of today with you. Regards. |
