I filmed the smoke on my phone when I started it up to leave the garage - didn't get to the back in time to catch it though to get good enough film on my camera!

I'm going back on Friday when they are changing my rear right side shock absorber - so I'll film it every morning and forcibly tell him to check the f'in turbo.

You'll like the fix they did on my baseworks amp too!! I complained of it distorting the bass even when I play boring stuff like Coldplay!! He said that "when they went into it" they found that the "bass was right up" - so I thought he mean't one of the knobs on the amp - it couldn't have been on the bass settings on the dash cos I know its set to 'C'. Get back in the car and it sounds ok - nothing special - so I press the folder knob to have a look and they had altered the settings so Bass was -3 and treble was +7 or somethin!! What a f'in joke - I'm going to go in there on Friday and thank him for essentially turning off my bassworks amp for me - then smash him in the face*.

Anyone had any joy limiting distortion by changing the crossover on the amp or by any other means?

J

*probably wont smash him in the face, probably.

I hate to say this, but I suspect that overall, considering the amp, speaker type, location and so on, the bassworks system is.... pants. Ask basegreen (he has it, and he knows his stuff).

Your probably right - I reckon I'll be able to force him to at least make it bearable. Having Coldplay vibrating your inner being isn't exacly my idea of Rock and Roll!!!

If your in Liverpool and looking to buy - PM me to find out where I bought mine so you can learn from my lesson or get me £50 for recommending you!! Either way!! Its all good!

I think the solution is to get the amp out of the dash, and get it mounted in the glovebox.

Adjusting the HU to remove bass to stop the nasty distortion is a pretty shoddy way of dealing with it. I've done a bit of that with mine just to stay sane, but I would like a better solution. I don't feel as aggrieved because I didnt pay for mine, but that's not really the point.

I have a small list of things to deal with under warrantly.. I'm mulling over whether to get them to take it all out again or to just live with it.

elfa - hey just keeping you on your toes!!

basegreen - didn't strictly pay for mine either as its ex-demo but I'll be ruggered if I will let them get away with not sorting it out - especially as they sold the car to me as having "more sporty performance" rather than just being called a Sport!

Mark my words - I will get a solution - the bloke is going to wish Friday never happened when I get in there!!!!

Well mines booked in for first week in august.. dealer wanted to charge me a tenner+vat for courtesy car insurance. I politely referred the chap to the dealer principle, saying if he still wants me to pay it, he can give me a call.

Probably will ask them to refit the amp in the glovebox. we'll see.

officially, its in for dodgy start up, ladybird stuck in rear spoiler (will do pics!!), and for the squeaking shocks

Horrible thread creep - but since it doesn't reveal anything new about the bassworks (we know it's a bit pants already) then I'll leave this stuff here and ask for any new talk on bassworks pantsness to be on a new thread please.

Ta!
