3.5 mm Aux In Socket?
Hello everybody.
I have recently test driven and ordered a Civic ES 2.2 D - very impressed. I have been searching and reading through past posts and am still confused in regards to the stereo compatibility - I apologise in advance if I am treading over similar stories or annoying regular forum members suffering with RSI! I do not have an I-pod so am not interested in the I-pod connection or functionality of the steering wheel controls etc, but require a 3.5mm Aux In socket into the car stereo for: 1) My company mobile 2) My SE W850 walkman phone (so I can use the MP3 player mostly). Now my boring Focus has a 3.5 mm socket, using a double jack I am sorted no problem. I am anticipating, based on the gist of the information I have read to date, that there are few (if any) options available. Without sounding too fussy I'm not very keen on the whole FM connection method. Can anyone please offer a little more clarity on the situation and suggest options available? Many thanks Andy |

Ah, Pottsy it was you that put in most the donkey work then - good work!
Still a little confused, so the bare minimum for someone who doesn't wish to strip wires would be to order the Connects2 box for £40 and the Honda loom to connect to the stereo at £90 odd quid?! £130 ish in total? Cor blimey! Without starting to rant too much, my Focus did not have an aux socket as standard, it cost me £8 for the adaptor that plugs into the back of the stereo and the Ford guys at the dealership popped the stereo out FOC for me to fit it myself as well!!!! Your guide, does it also apply to ES models or not? Not that I'm really considering it but would the Honda supplied Ipod kit act as a standard general aux in? Gotta keep my options open I suppose, you'd think there would be a cheap universal adaptor by now considering the model has been on the market for a fair while - some slightly clever car sparky must be missing out on a potential fortune! Cheers Andy |

The ES model does not need the Honda Loom, so it's just £40 for the Connects2 box.
It does still mean stripping the dash down though, which is the only reason that I haven't done it yet. I'm suprised that there isn't a 3rd party loom out yet, but the adaptors are out there. |
