The reviews further down the page aren't exactly ringing endorsements. They sound like a flawed piece of kit, but for that price, worth a try.

I did a side by side test of an FM modulator and a cassette adaptor using an IPOD as source.
The FM modulator was noticably inferior with considerable bass and general quality loss. This and the problems experienced by others regarding "station drift" has led me to the conclusion that they are not worth it. Just burn loads of MP3 CDs!!!! |

I've had a couple of FM transmitters for about 2 years now. They are OK, but the sound quality has a lot to be desired. If you are not too bothered about it, they are fine.
They have only just been legalised in the UK. |

I got the Belkin one for about £15 through Amazon before they were legalised. After the legislation came through, it suddenly doubled in price!
It is pretty good, although you do need a few blank stations at the ready so you can switch. The sound quality is OK, but you do need to turn the volumes up quite high on your mp3 and car stereo. |

I was actually thinking the other day, which was a chore in itself.
Wouldn't it be nice to be able to blow some MP3's onto a large USB memory stick and simply plug it into the stereo instead of spinning CD's. You could get quite a bit onto a 4GB stick and they can be purchased now for about £20. |

I considered one of these some time ago, but this new version is much better than the old one. I use an iTrip, but the sound quality varies from day to day. MP3 CD's or Direct connect iPod adaptor, but its a good alternative if you ask me. The problem with the tape style adaptors (apart from not having a tape player in the car!) is that they tend to hiss a lot at mid to high volume levels and they don't always work with auto reverse tape mechanisms! |
