It's worth just making it really clear that you have to burn it as a DATA CD not music cd or you'll only get 80 mins of tunes on the disc.

Note that if you use WMA instead of MP3 you can fit more on a CD
BUT: only 16 characters in the tag display (album, track) are visible using WMA. Using MP3 you can also use the free program "MP3gain", this will level out the difference in volume between the tracks. |

Thanks!
Thanks for everyones help and advice on this!
I put together a couple of WMA cd's last night, and to be honest, I don't really know whether I will prefer them in folders or not... I'll only find out in about a month! Best bit about it though, is I have an excuse to rifle though my old cd collection, though this time I get delete the crap thats mixed in with the cream! LJ |

Only use WMA if there is no chance of you getting an MP3 player such as an IPOD that will not play MP3s.
I found this to my cost when I had to re-rip all my CDs some years ago. |

I seem to recall from the manual that it will accept CDRW's ?
If so you can play around with formats till you find one suitable and then start the multi-burn project in earnest |

Your can put over 400 songs in WMA format on 1 CD
In MP3 format you have to use 128kbps for same quality, resulting in about 250 songs. For WMA I put the songs in folder per artist (1 list of 400 songs is not practical) |

I got my 1.8 ES today and am very happy, but just 1 question: I have made an mp3 cd and it plays fine. I have the display set to show the track name. When there is a long track name it shows the first few characters followed by >, which looks to me like an indication that it can scroll and show more. Is there some way to make it automatically scroll the titles?
Thanks |

You can also create sub folders. E.g. you can have a folder entitled 'BEATLES' then within it two or more folders [say] 'RUBBER SOUL' 'REVOLVER' SGT. PEPPER' etc. The system reads them and plays them fine [well my 2007 EX does anyway!]

When its playing mp3s/wmas, keep pressing DISP until you get to "TAG TRACK" or something like that. That makes it display the track name set in the ID3 tag of the mp3. If you don't have ID3 tags it can show the file name of each mp3.

Just to let you know: I found out that it is possible to lenghten the display of the filenames in the lower half of the nav-screen anywhere near to 30 letters. I've burnt a compilation-CD (without folders) with Nero 8 and settings to ASCII-mode!
Well, still the system is real crap. Whatever, car is driving ... |
