I still have to try out different formats with that ASCII-Setting. Don't exactly know, it it influences the way it is displayed if I choose ISO9660 + Joliet oder ISO9660 only ... more soon.

Ok, here we go. I guess I found out the best option for burning a CD-ROM for that lousy Civic-Nav-System. Look at the picture below.

Album-Info: Limited to 27 letters/digits.
Track-Info: Limited to 32 letters/digits.
Lower half:
Filename-Info: Limited to 27 letters/digits.

What you have to do is to burn a CD-ROM (I've Nero 8 in use) with the filesystem ISO9660 (NOT joliet!), Mode 1, ASCII. The filenames on that disc will be automatically cut off to 27 places plus extension. PLUS: switch off the ID3v2-tags in your MP3-Tracks. The system does only handle ID3v1-tags correct. I think that an additional ID3v2-tag could corrupt it.

Please tell me if it worked for you.

Sorry Levare, if you find the Civic system "lousy"

How many cars offer this type of system?? A 50.000Euro Audi does not play MP3.
I had a 3000Euro Pioneer NAVI in my previous car, and it did NOT display the MP3 info on the screen, only from 1 song that was playing. You could NOT select a song from a list, could NOT browse in a folder to select a song, you had to use next and back! It did not even display the station name!! in the preset buttons, and so on and so on...
Now THAT was a lousy system.

Anyway thanks for the great tip!

Maybe. But anyway: if a system does support playing MP3-files with the possibility of displaying detailed infos on the screen, further and individual options for displaying that stuff would be NO problem to implement. Sure, seeing how Audi does it, Honda did a "great job". But facing the possibilities in common, Honda did not even do a "good job".

The ID3 tag is correct - it's the stuff you are showing in the second pic, with the Track name and Album name for the main display:

See how the ID3 info is in the upper half of the screen, but the filename is in the lower part of the screen. There's another photo in the Satnav demo in the wiki...
Wish i had the sat nav, might get it on my next one, will stick with a stand-alone tomtom for now
