putting android phone display through a double din

ok got ahold of dashcommand for my galaxy s and i know the phone has a tv out option which leads me to believe that i can get dashcommand to show on a double din headunit.... question is how? what do i need headunit wise and connection wise? would be good to be able to view whats going on at a glance... ive had a quick look around to see if there is a double din with android o/s it looks like its coming but not here yet

I was thinking about this myself last night funnily enough. I have an Xperia that I was considering putting up on screen. I know the new 2012 line of HTC phones can be bought with a wireless dongle that streams the screen to a TV, and Apple has Airplay. There must be something we can rig up to work...

The Pioneer Appradio2 (SPH-DA100) is compatible with Android and IOS. For andriod is a connectorcable needed. Dashcommand is compatible with the Pioneer radio. The older model is great to.. but no support for android.

Seems a decent solution to me. Touchscreen n all. My issue is trying to link up to the OEM satnav screen. Might be asking a bit much lol.

From a post I have read on another thread, the App radio is terrible for what you want to use it for buddy,
It seems a few are going down the dash command route now which is good as I will be setting this up soon so will need as much help as I can

For the iPhone there is a cable you can buy its just like the normal iPhone/iPod connection then with the standard Red White and Yellow connections at the other end.
Finding a HU which will show the info shouldnt be too hard. I think if you pop into most car hifi places and say I need HU X to show my iPhone screen they would be happy to connect it up.

Will be good to see what you end up with. I currently have a Pioneer HU cant remember the model but its getting a little old now and to make all this work I need to plug the wires into the back which means taking all the dash apart so going to go for a new one now. Just cant decide either.

I'm here

Lee, it depends on what Double Din you have and what inputs it has at the rear... most have AV and/or Reversing camera inputs and then a wire or method for allowing the image to view when moving forward. Then is' just a case of getting the AV lead for your phone and connecting up with the correct adaptors.

What you wont be able to do is use the touch screen on the HU to control the app/phone... The image is just duplicated on the screen.

What is the model number of your DD?

It seem you can... by using a Nokia type AV cable (New 3.5mm Jack to 3 RCA Adapter Plug Cord Lead Cable For Audio Video A/V | eBay)
