Does anybody here use the pioneer app radio?

My next mod will be the radio, I'm a apple fan (sorry for that so I like the idea off the appradio from pioneer,

Does anybody already fitted this radio in his civic? (with the impulse kit)

How is the radio? How is the sound with the standard speakers? Or need I do a speaker upgrade to?

Thanks for your help!

I would say a good speaker upgrade is worth its weight in gold...

The App radio, I have never used it myself but looked into getting one as soon as I heard about it. (Also a huge Apple fan) but after watching a lot of reviews on Youtube and reading page after page I decided not to go for one. They are still quite new and still very buggy. You can only view a handful of apps on the radio but there are other things they need to iron out like if you have the satnav running from your phone the radio will not play etc. Its a simple software upgrade and it may now have it..... But just give it a hour on good old youtube and watch some reviews then call up a local car HiFi place and see if there is one around.

I still have one thing in my head, If it worked as well as I would want it to work or how I believe it would work everyone with an iPhone would have one of these in their cars but they still seem to be quite hard to get a local review of so I would say a lot of people are waiting for upgrades or even Appradio 2??

But if you do get one do a small video or a nice write up on the unit and may help me make my final decision

I think were looking for a similar solution

I'm after double din head unit with Nav, dvd, iPod, steer wheel control and some way of displaying DashCommand with control!

Just worried that these App Radio units still rely on the processing power from the phone

I think it will.... I think the unit will just display what is on the iphones screen. Although this is a pain in the rear its still a good way to tuck your phone away and gives the car a nice OEM look. Plus I guess the phone will still work as a phone while connected to the App Radio. If so thats a win win I think. The only other way I can see this working well is by putting an in car PC in the glovebox and running the output to the input of a double din but thats just going to cost a lot more.... Lost boot times etc

I compared the new one with the "old" at the pioneer site, but there is not very much changed, except the pre outs(1 in the old 2 in the new), and the compatibility with android (the last thing is not interesting for me

I can buy the radio in the Netherlands for about 280 euro

Back in feb Halfords had these on a £149.99 special deal, GUTTED I missed out by a couple of days; saw it on the 2nd march ;(. Now the price is back up I'll be waiting for version 2; apple and android capability will be useful.
Version 2 is supposed to have a much quicker start up time, which I believe was the only major downside to version 1.

I think it should with the Impulse kit. One of the Appradio features is you can re-map the steering buttons on the head unit.
