what he means by engine whine is when you accelerate you sort of get a mimicking whining sound of the engine through the car speakers and i know how annoying it is as had it before on a previous car.

What Type S Bournemoth said.
It's sound that raises pitch as engine rpm's increase. You can hear it even if the music level is set to 0. However, about annoying sound you mention - I don't have that. |

It is usually some kind of grounding issue. The exact problem and solution can vary from installation to installation. |

I had this when I did my connects2 (Aux in) install, especially when I plugged an audio source into the ciggy plug. I bought a 'Grond Loop Isolator' from Maplin, it was £8.99 and solved the problem.

Vtec - you will probably have to move the place that the amp ground wire is connected to the car. Try and get it somewhere up front - I would start near the fusebox on the drivers side. I shall do some more looking later for you.

That is what I am planning to do also. Should work equally well in the CTR - arent the insides of the door exactly the same (as an S Type at least)? |

What I thought was..... If you do go down the route of taking the dash apart and sorting it yourself, and if Pottsy's suggestion of moving the ground point, you could use the ground loop isolator by cutting off the RCA plugs and connecting it between the HU and your amp (I assume you Amp taps into the speaker out connections/wires of the HU). This diagram of the Isolator might help to explain what I mean... Presentation1.jpg Not to expensive either. Last edited by Bog; 21st August 2007 at 10:19. |

Whats a LOC?
I've just read the caraudio.com link you posted earlier on in thread, that's quite interesting. They don't recommend Ground Loop Isolators, as the state they only mask the problem - but if it works, what does it matter? |
