PS is there a way of getting the job done which doesnt invalidate the warranty on a new honda type s gt?

Thanks

Not a clue but will be interested to find out like you - especially regarding the warranty. Am looking to get an ipod link to stereo, have been told there is one which can be connected to standard Honda stereo and still give track listings and full control from steering column - waiting for ICE company to come back with the goods before i sign on the dotted line though!

Are you fitting it yourself?

In that case you can get a lot of parts for £700.
Replace all door speakers, an amp connected via LOC and a seperate sub in the boot.

I am not up-to-date enough with the market to tell you which parts though!
Also depends on what kind of music you listen to.

You could get quite a lot for your money if you shop around. I'm doing some upgrading this month, going to get the studio pack fitted (reversing camera, ambient lighting and door step garnishes) along with replacing all the speakers and fitting a decent amp.

I'm not fitting myself, don't have the experience for it.

MAJOR QUESTION - would i invalidate the warranty by getting an aftermarket Bass and Speakers?

Any reccomendations for combinations, provided warranty ISNT invalidated, appreciated!

If £700 includes labour you wont get as far.
Installed infinities for sure and probably some kind of active sub too.

Option 1:

4 efficient 6.5" component speakers (£180) and a small active sub like the little Alpine (£100). Fitting by a pro, possibly £200 plus, depending on where you go.

Active subs.

Option 2:

4 higher quality 6.5" component speakers (£270), a 5 channel amp (£250), 2 LOCs (£50), a slim subwoofer (£140) and cabling/dynamat/connectors (£80). Total £790 DIY.
Fitting could be £500+, but the job on the Civic is not hard, it just takes a bit of time. A keen amateur could do a nice neat job in a lazy day.

Car Audio Direct - The UK's leading car audio and stereo resource. Infinity Kappa 65.7cs - Infinity INF-KAPPA65.7CS
Car Audio Direct - The UK's leading car audio and stereo resource. Alpine MRV-F450 - Alpine ALP-MRVF450
Car Audio Direct - The UK's leading car audio and stereo resource. Stinger SALOC - Stinger STI-SALOC
Car Audio Direct - The UK's leading car audio and stereo resource. Blaupunkt THB250 - Blaupunkt BLA-THB250

Subjectively, using total guesswork and a few assumptions mixed with quite a few years of experience, mistakes and successes; if the OEM sound quality is 4/10, option 1 would be 6/10 and option 2 7.5/10. To get any better you need to dump the HU and replace with something nice (with proper time EQ) and build proper enclosures for the speakers.

This whole subject is so varied and there are so many opinions, this is just my take, so anyone else feel free to disagree and lob their own ideas in!

Warranty

If you make a claim on the warranty, the claim will be rejected if the fault is directly or indirectly caused by unauthorised work. So if your fancy speakers break the door card, then it's tough luck. But the rest of your warranty will be fine.

ok upped my budget to £1200, pottsy im investigating your reccomendation for option 2.

apologies in advance for being a 1st time car audio installer...i've built pc's before but never taken a car apart...sweating a bit at the thought of tearing apart a brand new type s gt....

Pottsy - caraudio direct didnt have the Blaupunkt BLA-THB250 but i found it here Blaupunkt THb 250 subwoofer for £99
There is also the THB300, is this too powerful?

Is this combination as reccomended in option 2 a rarther nice one, with everything compatible?

Would i run the risk of battery failure down the road or will the civic be able to handle it easily?

do you have a link for the cabling/dynamat/connectors (£80) you mentioned?

How much do you charge for installation of said parts in a new type s gt?

If not yourself, could anyone reccomend someone in the essex area?
