Brand of CD used for Civic MP3 CD player?

Hi

What brand of CDs do you all use for the Civics MP3 player?

I have just tried Verbatim (1 burned at 4x speed, and one burned at 24x speed) and neither worked... The CD player just kept spinning when I inserted it.

Wondered what brand you guys had had success with?

Cheers

two of them bought at my local grocery shop...
they work fine.

the latest one is called "platinum"

do the discs work in other players?

I suppose the Civic plays normal CDs fine?

Are they CD-RW discs?
These are a problem in some readers, haven´t tried this in the Civic.

Did you verifiy the discs after burn?

What burning software?

I use Nero and that works fine.
I was thinking if there may be a setting with the finalising or something.

Did you actually burn them as data cd's??
Did you finalise the disc??
Do normal cd's that you burn work ok in the Civic??

I use Datawrite Titanium CD-R discs, they work fine as data and music cd's.

Hope you can get it working soon

I think so, although in WinXP which I'm not sure whether it finalises or not...

Yes they do, have tried a burned audio (not data) CD and that works, also an original CD works as well. Just having no luck with data CDs.

Cheers, I'm going to load on Nero onto a PC and try that next, and also try a different brand of CD...

important thing: in the nero use "Disc at once"!!!! instead of "Trak at once" option. I burned a disc in track at once mode... it was my fault but then I corrected it and everything was fine...

I use Verbatim printable CD-R for my MP3, have about 20 now and have had no problem what so ever.
Usually burn at 34X using Nero 6 then print picture of car etc with Epson Print CD program.
I burn a lot of CD's and DVD's and find the Verbatim brand excellent with no coasters YET!!!!

It's not the brand - it's using XP built in burning. The player won't like the multi session format. Use nero or any other software and burn and finalise the disk all in one go.

Sony -RW and Maxell CD-R plus a few other brands. No problems encountered.

I'm using Verbs, the printable ones, and all systems go at this end.

I suspect the 'closing' or 'finalising' of the CDR as mentioned above is the answer.

Have tried it on another computer using Nero, finalising the disc and it worked great!

So I know the CD player is ok, have taken some Philips CDs and am gonna stick Nero on and try it again with my own music!

Cheers guys

OK so end result - its working perfectly

Combination of using Nero, and also not using WMA, but MP3... Just tried using MP3 instead to rule that out, and worked.

Guess it had encoded to WMA funny, shame as WMA is about half the size of MP3!

Oh well, glad its all working now

Have used Verbs, Phillips and even W H Smith, all burnt using "data disc" and Nero at 52x, never had a problem. Once used Media Player to make an MP3 CD and that was fine too.

I am sure that you can use WMA files in the player.
But the more files you place on the disc, the longer it takes to load, and with MP3 files it takes long enough

Anyway, 11 albums on 1 disc is pretty good.

I was thinking that

WMA should work OK, according to the Civic bible/manual, but I've always used MP3. I use a bitrate that returns about 7 albums per CD and I consider it to be better than having an autochanger as they can be troublesome depending on where they are located.

Does the EX have an auto changer in it? I see it says DISC + and DISC - on the radio controls - can you load more than 1 CD in at a time?

No, it is an option.
A seperate changer added to the one disc HU.

And the changer is as far as I know not mp3 compatible.
