Hi Immyg
I don't know if this help, but I found this on another forum for the FN2 Below is the list of the parts required to change the Dashboard to suit an aftermarket Headunit; 39116-S30-G01 POCKET, AUTO RADIO 1 77251-SMG-E00ZA PANEL ASSY., AUDIO *NH167L * (NH167L GRAPHITE BLACK) 1 77256-SMG-E00 BRACKET A 1 77257-SMG-E00 BRACKET B 1 91551-SE0-003 BOLT, FLANGE, 5X7 2x 93913-14280 SCREW, TAPPING, 4X12 (PO) 6x You need to change the brackets for each side as the original brackets are part of the double din unit - cant be used again. You also need to supply your Chassis Number as Dashboard Shades differ! The Dealer would need to change this for you also. |

talking to my friend who runs his own ice company, he has secured a fascia plate, however you need to keep the original radio to have the clock and for some reason is somehow connected to the airbags (this is what he said) he is currently looking for a more elegant solution. Will keep posted as and when i have any further info

Why are you not happy with the Honda HU? (I am not saying you should be - just wondering why it is a deal breaker for you to keep it). |

i dont mind too much about the sat nav because i can just use a tom tom for that etc. and as for the sound ive already got 2x 15" subwoofers from my old car and the JVC AVX2 head unit and id want that in my next car. i did some research on the new civic and started reading up on how people are having problems changing the stuff over :s thats what's making me think twice because i want the subs etc in there

The HU in the EX is so inbuilt I don't think you can replace it, not without sacrificing the NAV controls and probably the central air vents.

I think he is saying that he is happy to buy a non-EX (non-satnav) version and use a TomTom or whatever. Changing the HU in a non-EX (non-satnav) is do-able as proved on this site, although I think everyone who has done this has kept the original HU hidden somewhere. You can of course still use the subs with the original HU using LOC converter from the speaker signals to the line input on the amp. Adding an amp, new door speakers, sub, noise dampening and real speaker boxes in the doors will work wonders even with the original HU. However, there are better HUs out there than the original. oops. you are right! Don´t think touching the HU of a EX is worth thinking about. Too much integration of stuff, and a waste of money buying a EX and then not using that functionallity. If you want to change the HU, have a look at a non-EX. |

Have you had a look at this:
adapter Double Din The original non-satnav HU is in the glovebox. And also this: New Ice Installed The original non-satnav HU is above the pedals. And these are just a few of many examples of what you can do keeping the original HU: How to install an entire ICE system A solution to connect DVD-Players and Game consoles to the Navigation Screen Last edited by FWH; 8th September 2007 at 20:09. |
