My mild sound install
One of the first things that got on my nerves about the FN2 was the poor sound system.
So, what started as a simple speaker upgrade turned into a full system. Firstly, installed a set of Vibe Black air C6 components and Vibe Coaxials (i was impatient and didnt want to wait for delivery on something better) I then realized the OE radio was pretty rubbish, so decided to get an amp and sub. I didnt want a bulky sub box taking up half the boot, so built a fibreglass stealth box which turned out really nice ! I will admit, i wont be doing this again in a hurry... building the box was kinda fun, wiring not so fun !! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Looks OEM! Very nice.
I always thought if installed a sub i'd put it in the false floor. But I really like your location a lot! Did you keep the factory HU in the end? |

The only question I would have would be how does it perform with it being housed in fibrglass? Given that, as I understand, a lot of the sound quality is gained from the wooden box they are normally housed in?

@ Spankmycar - Yes, kept the original radio, but might go double din eventually
@ Mick - its far too much work to reproduce, what would you be willing to pay for one ? The fibreglass is super solid, dont think wood makes much of a difference. It sounds awesome, solid deep bass. I was going to port it, but sounds so good there was no need. @SykomantiS - Its a 10", i went with an Alpine MRX-F30 amp, it has speaker inputs. For now, its in the boot under the "spare wheel" area. Still gotta figure out how i wanna mount it. |

As it's for a niche market you can push the price up a little bit. So.. £25 per hour / Say three hours ? plus parts & niche fee. £100 If I was going to fit a sub I'd be happy to pay a ton for that. |

I have zero experience with fibreglass, if I could pay someone to do it, I would- especially at that price.

I would have happily paid £100 for one, however the materials alone were around £100 (excluding beer, although it is an essential ingredient)
Probably spent about 10 hours on it, so just not worth reproducing. However, producing a mould could mean creating them pretty quickly. hmm |

I am not normally a fan of custom additions like these, however I think you have done a cracking job there! Well done
