Question Help!

I'm keen to get some form of iPod link to my car.

There is much confusion about what will and will not work,

Connects2, Dension etc

As rubbish as the Honda link is (I've slated it plenty of times) for pure convenience and for being better than nothing, I'm giving thought to getting it fitted. Unless someone can put forward a solid alternative that is readily available, works well and that I will be able to get fitted.

I hope someone can come up with something definitive!

I too have read much debate about this matter and I personally have opted for the Honda solution. I've bought it and intend to fit it myself as its a pretty easy job and will save a load of money. Although it has its limitations, in reality how much choice / visuals do you need when driving a car?

I do agree that Apple and Honda could have made it technically better, but for me if it plays my tunes with good sound quality then that's good enough for me.

I had the old Dension Ipod Link (the mark 1 version) and from what I've heard about the Honda Link it is pretty much the same level of control that you get with regards to playlists, scrolling through albums, etc. The Link Plus (new Dension system) is supposed to be an improvement on that but I don't know how much.

Never had the Connects so can't judge it.

I'd be more tempted by the H&K Drive system to be honest, as at least you can gain remote access and can put the listing screen somewhere more visible.

The problem with the H+K system (as far as I understand anyway) is that it goes through one of the fm connections and the quality suffers.

I've the Connects2 solution, excellent sound quality because its' hard wired and not FM. Dealer fitted it, said it was very straightforward. At least if there are any rattles etc I can bring it back to him. None so far, 6 months in.

If you are prepared to hang in there just a little longer then the Connects2 USB/3.5mm jack/SD card interface should be ready... don't know if you have been keeping tabs on the thread on this...

Who wants a USB/jack/memory card interface for their Civic?

Confusion?

The connects2 works perfectly. On EX cars you need an extra bit of wire (either home grown or Honda supplied):

Mine works fine - and I would rather have a connects2 than a Dension, because I would rather not be tied into owning an ipod.

Connects2 is probably going to be the solution of choice although not having a skip track function is a little annoying.

Didn't realise all the info I needed was in the wiki.

Thanks Pottsy!

My player has a little joystick that pokes out of its front. The player lives in the centre cubby thing, so I can easily (without looking, by feel alone) give it a flick to the right to skip a track. Sorted!
