If I will buy the Connects2 adapter (CTVHOX001), will I need a loom for the cd-changer port? I have ordered the Sport version. Or is it only for the EX version with satnav?

If I need a loom, what part do I need to order?

Will any of these adapters work with the Civic?

Maybe Pottsy can answer the question about the loom needed for the Sport version?

No one knows about the other adapters?

I got a reply from one ebay seller about a mp3(iPod) adapter and he says it works on the 2006 Honda Civic 5 Door model

This is what he writes:

"Yes the ipod adapter is fully compatible with the 2006 Honda Civic 5 door model.

You can connect it to any MP3 player using the aux-in connection. You will enjoy digital sound but you will only be able to control the volume from your car radio, however all other functions such as skip track etc, can be controlled from your MP3 player as normal. "

I sent him an e-mail asking if I need the Honda 8-cd changer-wire to connect to the HU, and now I am waiting for an answer.

Here is the link to the ebay auction:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...DME:B:AAQ:UK:1

It would be alot cheaper to buy this adapter instead of the Connects2, if I don't need the "loom".

It would also be great for all you iPod users, who can use the stearing wheel for changing tracks etc.

I have an Archos XS202 so I will only be able to use the aux-in function...

Looking at the ebay sellers page, it does indeed look like this doesn't need the loom. This will be a very cool device, if it works!

Very interested to hear if this works. I have a Nano that I only use while walking or occationally at work, would love to be able to use it in the car.

I send the ebay dealer a picture from the back of the HU and asked if the free connector to the right is where the iPod adapter goes.

http://civinfo.co.uk/forum/files/radioback_123.jpg

Thanks Roger Harris for posting the picture...

Have not yet got any answer on my second e-mail.

Will keep You updated

Just for further information the product in question is the XCarLink, the website can be found here

Looks like they are a Japanese company and some of the translation on the site is questionable.

Would this work with both the EX SatNav type screen and the normal non colour display version?

If this is legit, I'm definitely getting one

I think it seems to be a chinese company...

"We are specialized in the car audio system. In China, we exclusively possess the technology of iPod/MP3 adapters for cars."

http://www.xcarlink.com/jianjie.asp

Is there anyone who wants to order one for testing? I will receive my Civic in January

Looked at the feedback on the ebay auction.

Actually maybe 5-6 people had ordered the Honda adapter and gave positive feedback...

I was browsing the Xcarlink webpage and found the car mp3 player. Maybe this would work better for us who don't have the iPod?

It says that it can control the mp3-player the same way as the iPod adapter does for ipod owners.

http://www.xcarlink.com/detail.asp?id=32

I send an e-mail about this adapter to the ebay seller also.

Let's see what he answers...

Got an answer from the ebay seller:

"Our product simply connects to the CD changer port at the rear of your stereo.

You should not have to buy any extra parts, or cables to connect it. If you are able to remove your radio and take a picture of the rear of the stereo I can show you where it connects to.

If you purchase and then have any problems with compatibility you can return it to us in original condition for a refund."

I send him the Roger Harris posted picture and he answered:

"Yes it connects directly to the CD changer port. It is a 16 pin connector. 8X2. "

So if there is someone who has looked at the back of the HU, is there a 16 pin connector?

On Roger Harris posted picture I can't see any connector that has 16 connectors, is there an extra wire that is attached extra on the back of the HU?

I would have to assume that the white connector on the back of the radio in the photo would be the cd changer port. The 2 black ones are usually the power and speaker connectors.

I got another reply from the ebay seller:

"Do you have a clearer picture, it looks like the CD changer may already be connected, the connection on the far right seems a bit small, but I know that the Radios in the all Honda Civic’s are made by Pioneer and the connector that is used on the adapter does fit. If you are able to take an actual close up photo, I can tell you exactly where it would connect. "

Does anyone have an another picture from the back of the HU?

Maybe the white connector is the one to connect the adapter wire to, but on Roger Harris posted picture it is used by another wire. Anyone know if he has connected something extra to his HU?

Smiffy, The interior of the EU model is nigh on identical to the US model, it's just the exterior that's totally different - thank god!!!

If the Civics have Alpine headunits, then this adapter won't work, because the ebay seller says it only works with Pioneer headunits.

I have the official CD changer instructions here, and it appears that there's a 20pin connector to the HeadUnit, between the changer and HU.

Then it propably won't work, because the ebay adapter has a 16pin connector.

Really could do with knowing either way, as I would definitely stick one of these in straight away if I was certain.
