Unknown socket

I bought a 2005 reg diesel Honda Civic a few months ago. There's a socket in the driver's footwell near the clutch which I cannot identify (although there are about 30 pages of the manual missing). There's a picture of it attached.

Any information on what it is and what it can be used for would be greatly appreciated.

You can't see it unless you operate the clutch with your nose.

Good point. My last car had a very tight and fiddly cover over it
