I'm too crazy with changing the OEM head unit, if the cables are too short, I'll extend them! But it has to go! |

Nice work! Do you have name and/or part number for that kit to take away the OEM radio. I'm interested in that and so is one of my customers, too.

In the new civic accessory overview there is a seperate 2 DIN navigation unit. (http://www.honda-access.com/uk/en/Images/74486.pdf Page 20 on the top). If it is possible to fit this one without the standard headunit, there has to be an adapter to let the screen work. And it has to be possible with all 1 and 2 DIN units. Is the back of the standard radio normal 1 DIN size? If so, it can be put in het same holder as for the cassette player in the glovebox. I can't find an adapter for the steeringwheel controls for this Honda, does someone know if this is available?

Unfortunately the replacement fascia which is shown in the previous threads is not available for UK models and has implications for the Warranty. Below is the email I received from Honda UK today.
"The dashboard area surrounding the stereo in the UK model Civic's is not compatible to accept the facia shown in your attachment, this is because the stereo in the UK Civic as been integrated into the dashboard and is not simply a removable item like stereos in previous Honda models. If you wished to modify your Civic to match that in your attachment, it would require replacing an entire section of your dashboard, which we would not recommend, as this could possibly invalidate your warranty (in part or in full), render your steering wheel controls useless and would be a costly expense to do so." |

pfff - that's quite inflexible to be honest. So much for considering an integrated DVD playback system. Obviously there is the (quite pricey) unit for putting a 3rd party video signal into the screen as a mock up reversing camera signal, but there's no provision for sound (have to use an iPod input or similar) and you still have to locate somewhere for the actual DVD drive.
There MUST be a better solution to this. |

I went in to my local dealership today and got a print out of the parts list for the dash. There is a stereo facia adaptor for right hand drive models available honda do in fact list it.I have a picture and price, its really expensive at £74.89 + vat just for the surround the pocket is another £29.08 + vat so you are looking at £122.16 before you even buy another stereo...Ouch
Still I am very tempted to buy one so I can put a proper stereo in my car |
