panasonic head unit

Hi first time posting
I have a 1.8 sport 2006 it has a Panasonic head unit and seemingly the ipod kits like dension and the like do not work as they require the head unit to be a pioneer does anybody know any more details?

Hi and Welcome!

Is it a 8th Gen Civic you have?
With an original Honda HU?

Have a look in the Wiki here for more info that may help:

All the Civics here have Panasonic (Matsushita) head units and so all the kits mentioned here will work on your car.

I think older Civics and some other Hondas had Pioneer, hence the confusion.

Do you have the details on this xcarlink?

The connects2 and denison in the Wiki (link in my earlier post) have been tried and work. You need the right versions though of course.

The xcarlink is designed for earlier cars:
Xcarlink / Digibuys

The Dension and connects2 will work fine in our cars:

this one?

xcarlink,ipod adapter,car mp3,iphone adapter

Not so sure that will work in the 8th Gen Civic.
Maybe it only works in Hondas with Pioneer units.
Haven´t heard anyone on here using it.

If the retailer says it only works with Pioneer units, then it most probably won´t work in the Civic as it has Panasonic HU.

Have a look at this thread:
Xcarlink / Digibuys
It seams to indicate that it is not compatible with the 8th Gen Civic.

The Connects2 (VHOX001) box has been used my many, however.
Perhaps that is an option for you?

Also the Denison should work if you have the right model:
The current model is the Gateway 100; part number GW15HB1 with active cradle IP02CR9.
Gateway 100

More details on both in the Wiki.
