Bassworks Not impressed at all

I just bought a 2007 VTI-L (australia) and had put Bass works in post purchase last week. Took it to audio shop and sounded all to hard to do what I wanted - lift dash etc. I dont really think it sounds good at all. All power is to the rear so to balanance it correctly need to fade it to F3 which negates all I have spent. Other people talk about rattles...I wish I had that.

Without putting in a sub box in trunk, any thoughts to fix.

Let it bed in, and your ears get accustomed to it. It will be a bit better, but still not what one would expect.

In the end, do what some of us also did (also had Bassworks) -> remove & install sub in trunk

A few ideas as follows:

1 Give your system a bit of time to bed in before deciding on radical upgrades. I recently changed my speakers with the aid of the "how to " on this site. They sounded terrible at first with far too much treble. However they have improved with use and are now excellent.

2 If you still have the original speakers - it is well worth upgrading them. The Honda speaker upgrade is not as good as an aftermarket upgrade. A Guide on upgrading to aftermarket speakers - see link below:

3 Further improvements can be had by soundproofing the doors, changing rear speakers and adding a small sub. How to guides are on this site.
I went as far as changing all the speakers and soundproofing and am now very happy with the sound quality. See the How to section:
How To Dramatically improve speaker sound quality for £40 (Dynamat)
Rear Speakers - Replacement with Coaxials (3 Door)
Weak Bass now sorted! Also, pics of the back of the radio

4 The bass works isn't considered to be good value on this site, but if you upgrade the speakers you should have a reasonable system.

All the above upgrades in the how to guides:
- give a dramatic improvement over standard,
- are low cost,
- are fairly easy to do yourself,
- keep the car looking standard.

If you are very serious about your ICE set up and want to spend more there are lots of other guides on the site.

Have upgraded front speakers with Polk DB-6501, and experience big improvement in sound quality.
However, I have a distinct feeling that the original amp don't deliver enough current, because the low end sounds - feeble.
Not that I expect bass heaven from an 6,5" element mounted in a car door, but the bass stands out as uncontrolled.
Hence I consider Rockford Fosgate in the trunk. Have space - don't use spare.

Ordered bassworks + front coaxials, think it sound quite good when tuned right

PS: I didnt consider the price, and i appreciate that its integrated and original.

I agree on that - reluctant to mess with the boot.
But in this incident I got swayed... and pretty easily. We'll see how it works out.

Thank you for all your inputs. Lots of ideas here. Rear deck sounds ok but front sound so bland now. I think most of you have Type R so some differences.

Double DIN is a blank facia with a double sized hole in it for mounting your own (non OEM) headunit.

it's fairly complex though, and you're best off reading the entire thread for details...
