Hello

Installed my Dice unit today and it works great (took photos will post later)

I also fitted a video in cable I made and put the aux cable in the dice box from mini jack to phono L/R. I ran all the cables and the iPod cable into the centre console for now until I do something more fancy.

To test the video in and aux sound I plugged in my video camera and set it playing, I put the car in reverse gear (did not get time to do this mod!) and up popped the movie on my video camera on the sat nav screen and out came the audio - perfect.

Now for the weird bit, while the video camera was playing I unplugged one of the audio leads and the video screen went almost black and the image scrolled about on it. I plugged it back in and it the video came back on. I checked and double check and it does not matter if I disconnect either of the L/R phonos it makes the video go off.

Which is really odd as they are two different systems! Why would unplugging the audio make the video go off? Any ideas?

(To be sure it was not the video camera I tried the same test indoors on the TV and it was fine, the picture will display if just the video output is plugged into the TV.)

Also the extreme Mac Roadshow cable I wrote about seems not to work with a iPod Touch, I tried it indoors connected to the TV and it outputs audio only

hi, i would have gone for an iphone over the itouch. my ipod video works fine with sound and video on the screen, ive used some cheap leads off ebay 1 set that uses the dock connector, and 1 set via the headphone jack and both work fine. ive not had any issues with sound or video, so i would check your wiring, and i hope you soldered everything, as i see some pics of someones install on here with half his dash out and he had used scotch locks.....big mistake!! as that will be coming apart again.

you need to do the 12volt into the satnav unit or you will have to select reverse and have your reverse lights on while watching a video. all you need is a simple switch and 1 diode, i used 2 diodes, oh and a fuse.

Yep its all soldered. I'll do the reverse mod another day, I was running out of time and wanted to get the car back together before it got dark, anyway looks like I need to take the dash apart again to find the grounding problem,

I did not go for the iPhone as i did not want to pay £35 a month as im as PAYG customer and must only spend about £50 a year, plus I did not think the iPhone allowed video out like the Touch does.

As for cables the latest iPods pin layout at the dock is different apparently for the video out, which at the moment forces you to buy Apple cables!

Sure does work.

Just email integration_solutions, the guys name is Bryan and he is very helpful. Just tell you have a Civic EX new shape with sat nav so you need the Y cable and he will send you the right one. Mine took about 10 working days to arrive but included Thanks Giving.

I'll get some photos of my install on here tomorrow.

As promised some photos, I've not shown getting the dash apart as there are several excellent guides on here already.

So here is the radio being removed ( I used a couple of cloths to cover trim etc when pulling bits out:

Radio out I plugged int supplied Y cable:

Dice unit plugged in hooked up to my old iPod Mini which will be a semi-permanent fixture in the car as the battery is shot:

And the Audio button displays Extension on screen:

Just to confirm the Roadshow cable does not work with an iPod Touch but does work with a iPod Video. I have tried and tested this!

Apple has changed the configuration of the pins on teh dock connector for video output.

I think it is Win CE on the satnav.

The satnav screen can show SOME mp3 tag info from CDs, not external sources.

Where Have You Installed Your Dice Box? I Had To Remove Mine The Other Day As I Think The Cold Affected It, As It Crashed. It Only Took Me 10 Seconds To Get To It And Remove It, And When I Plugged It Back In All Was Working Fine.

It's just the standard screen when the HU detects a aux input other than the Honda CD changer(i.e denison, connects2 etc.). It does not do anything and is shown when the 'Audio' display is on - you can hide it by going back to Map, Climate, Info etc.

I don't know why they chose the word 'extension' rather than 'Aux in' though

Doh! I put it under the centre console so I'd have to remove that to get to it.

Yes, you just won“t need to use the "Y splitter cable for Civic EX" which comes with it.
