You shoudn't have paid. The £500 fixed price servicing means you have paid in advance for first 5 standard services. I don't have the Honda Happiness deal and I paid £91.77 for my first service.

did you quote your Honda Happiness number at the time of booking it in?

It does sound as if some dealers are not very keen to promote this deal.

I suspect they have realised that they get a better profit from charging yearly.

I'm still undecided. I only intend to keep the car for 3 years so I am likely to only require 2 services. However, if 2 standard services cost nearly £500 anyway I may as well go and get it as mine was registered on the 9th March 07.

Thoughts ?

Thanks Willie and Glass Spider. I just needed to double check. I went back to the dealership today and got my money refunded.
Apparantly I gave them my Honda happiness number when I booked which is different to the 5 year plan number (Thats what they said anyway)

No wonder you are 'dazed and confused'.

nope Honda happiness number is all there is according to my little colourful card thing i got, and it clearly says that you need to quote this number on the card, no mention of a 5 yr plan number, i think they're spinning you a yarn, glad you got your money back though

Did we get a service matrix for i-vtec engines for the first 5 years ?

I need to work out whether to go for it or stick with 2 or possibly 3 'pay as you go' services before I change it.

What about nearly new cars?

Hi Im new hear and this is my first post.

I bought a demo model Civic Type R with 2.5k on the clock. Bought it in May 07. Car was registered in late January. Does this qualify for the Honda happiness 5year service plan. Any help would be much appreciated.

According to what Biker1 wrote - Yes it does qualify, see the start of this thread. Go and see your dealer as soon as possible.

servicing in other places

hi there. i have just found this site although i have owned the civic for about 8 months now.. thanks to the person who started this as it has been extremely helpful!! at least i know i am not imagining all the rattles..

wanting to ask if anybody would recommend having the car serviced by somebody else and not by Honda itself coz maybe a second opinion would help with regards to the sqeeks and rattles that Honda can do nothing about (albeit having changed both rear shock absorbers).. i may have missed out on the honda happiness as the option was NOT given to me.. my car is due for service as its an 06 model (was a showroom model)

thanks for any advice..

I have just been charged £600 for the Happiness package on the Civic I am buying this week. Has the price gone up recently? In the latest 'Which' review on such deals, in comparing costs with other various makes Honda is listed as £100 a year, i.e. £500 for the 5 years.

Is that petrol or diesel ?

Petrol is/was £500 and diesel was quite a bit more.

When I paid for my car, I tried to buy the Honda Happiness deal, but was told by the staff there that I couldn't have it! They said it had to be bought within the first 8 months of the car's life, and as my car was 9 months old I wasn't allowed it!

I was gutted I missed it by a month!

Have just telphoned Honda Customer Service. It is £500 for 5 years. My dealer is either wrong or trying to pull a fast one. I shall certainly expect an explanation when I pick up the car on Friday. (By the way, I am sure this is probably on the forum, instead of using the expensive 0845-200-8000 number which appears on their website, they can just as easily be contacted using their local call number 01753-590760. Help beat 0845 numbers and use cheap local numbers)

Actually I think you have that the wrong way round. 0845 numbers are 'Lo-Call' numbers which means they are charged as a local call wherever you are in the UK. 01753 590760 is an STD number which would be charged at national call rates.

Perhaps you are thinking 0f 0870 numbers which are used to generate premium price calls.

Anthony.

We have a call plan where all number starting with 01 and 02 are free 24/7. so I always use the website saynoto0870.com to get the normal number else I'm charged with 0845/0870 etc etc..
