[Head] Osram Nightbreakers review

Having replaced my standard bulbs with the afor mentioned bulbs both H1 H7 and matching sidelights (which dont match) i stood in semi darkness and thought , well they dont look any different . They have been fitted for over a week now and i can say they are better its just a case of how much better , well in the dark when the street lights are on you can see the beam and a nice flood of white light , with the beam stretching further away from the car than it used to making it easier to spot the dreaded cyclist with no lights on , also reflecting the road surface making it easier to see icy surfaces. This may be a personal opinion but i feel far safer than i used to when driving in the dark i think this is down to the fact i can see further and more of the road than i used to be able to . The full beam lights make everything in your sight very very bright indeed.


To conclude i think these bulbs are a very good purchase , as for the fitting i had no problem all i had to do was loosen off the battery clamp.

I totally agree with you. It's really worth fitting them for the increased vision it gives and the whiter crisper light. I'm very impressed with them.

I also agree, well worth the small effort in fitting them.
I changed one side first, just to see the difference, looking from both close up and from about 30 metres, the Osrams were quite a bit whiter. From inside the car, the Osram beams gave a brighter cleaner light.

i will probly get some as there is a big differance of lighting from my old car! i dont realise i have left it on full beam a lot of the time!!!!! the standard lights are a bit naff!

I went for the philips ones for dipped beam only. They are a good improvement over standard. The biggest difference is evenness of the light spread and how sharp a cut off they have at the top of the beam (prevents dazzling cars coming towards you)

Auto bulbs direct gave 10% discount, free postage, next day delivery and some blue side light bulbs thrown in for free (That I don't need)

I agree too.

Fitted them on my main beam (have HIDs).
Good improvement at reasonable cost.

thats what i have fitted last week the phillips blue vision and they are excellent improvement over the standard ones a much crisper whiterlight. i've replaced the H7, H1 and side lights and they sent me an extra pair of side lights too aswell as the 10% discount!

So which are the best? Phillips or Osrams? (Phillips are more expensive on CMS.)

Unfortunately, x-treme powers are not available in H1 and, in terms of similar 'colour' was advised by many suppliers NOT to mix.

I fitted Osram Night Breakers H1s, H7s and 501s. Looks great and good improvement particularly the H1s.

What are the standard bulbs in the EX? I understand that these are meant to be better than the rest of the models but are they worse than the Osrams you talk about here?

Saw a Civic EX 57 plate pull out of a local car park last night. The beams were very white and seemed to really light up the road. Unfortunately didn't get to speak to driver, but the difference was VERY impressive.

I think they have Xenons as standard on the EX

Indeed. Though they seem to be different to the xenons my parents have on their cars (big ball things) So will the EX xenons beat the nightbreakers?

Has anyone tried both the Philips X-Treme and the Nightbreakers?

If so which do you reckon is the better bulb?

Just the recent Autoexpress review had the Philips on top and not too sure if I will be able to notice any subtle differences myself

Those big ball thingies are projector headlamps afaik
