Question Type-S dipped lights

I know this has probaly been posted before and may seem like a stupid question but I cant find the answer any where.

From my understanding if your car has HID (xenon) lights fitted it will come with headlight washers.

Therefore if your car does not have headlamp washers it does not have HID.

So is the standard bulb on all S-Types just halogen?

I have ordered some new Phillips bulbs and hope to see some improvment

Thanks in advance to any replies

Yes I would think so. I have fitted Phillips Extreme to my ES and they are much brighter than standard.

Xenon or HID lights use a system that 'self focuses' upon switch on/ignition, the lights themselves will home in at the correct range and level for optimum range, hence the requirement for washers to keep the lenses clean, so in answer to your post, if the car has no washers, it has no HID system either.

I think there are some law regulations about HID system and washers - you must have washers and automatic level adjustment when you use xenon bulbs.

Correct.
However, in some markets, all cars are sold with washers, not only the HID ones.

And in some markets (most def NOT UK), it appears that HIDs are ok without washers or levellers

On a side note, some years ago it was an MOT fail not to have functioning headlight cleaners on any car over here.
This requirement was removed to harmonise the the EU.

However, it is also an EU requirement to have self-leveling and cleaners on HID dipped beam equiped cars.
