Lamp replacment to LED???
Hi,
I will be picking up my new Type S GT CTDi in 3 weeks and would like to replace the bulbs with LED's and Xenon if poss. As far as I am aware, we didnt have the choice of Xenon when we ordered these (A UK thing??) What I would like (this may or may not be possible) is to replace the standard lamps with a Xenon kit, and then the remaining bulbs with LED's. I am sure it isnt just as simple as that, so has anyone done this (and have pics if poss!). Aswell as replacing the usual, is is possible to replace the stop lights, indicators (also ones in mirror housing) with LED's? If it is, if someone can let me know which bulbs would be needed, that would be great. We will be picking up 2 of these Civic's so would possibly change one, take photos to compare standard Honda fit, with replacments, then people can decide for themselves. Cheers Jamie |

Aftermarket HID kits are available.
You will need to find out if it is legal or not in the UK. The sidelights can be replaced by LEDs. Not too sure if anything is available for the other bulbs. More info in the Wiki. Lights - Civinfo Wiki ![]() Last edited by FWH; 9th February 2008 at 18:13. |

For the UK I don't know, for Germany: only if they are "automotive LEDs" - I haven't seen any such LEDs in the shops. On every box of LEDs here is a small print saying "usage in traffic forbidden". If the police here gets you with non-automotive LEDs in the sidelights you are in real trouble, your registration is suspended and you have to get your car re-checked, on top of this comes a salty fine. That's why I'm driving around with bulbs yet

Yes, I can confirm, if they arn't OEM then they are 100% illegal (most cops it would seem class this as any bulb which the manufacturer doesn't put there as standard, and before anyone says, rear spoilers as long as they are used in conjunction with ordianry brakelights are legal), my mate got a pull for his all rounders a short while ago, luckily with some sweet talking, he managed to get away with a seven day wonder.

For the UK bulbs need to be E marked. All the led bulbs I've seen for sale have a disclaimer stating something like 'for off road use only'.
The mirror indicators and I think the high level brake light are already leds. |
