[Bulbs] what do you think?

after reading many reviews on the philps Xtreme power racing performance bulbs i decided to give them a go. got the H7 bulbs for £30. fitting them wasnt toooo bad. drivers side was easy- the passenger side honda recomends removing the air duct pipe but i could just about squeeze my hand down without removing this.
i wasnt sure how much different these bulbs would be.would have thought honda would put some decent ones in from the factory.
anyway see what you think. im quite happy with them! they are more white and are definatley brighter.
oh just to let you no these pics where taken with one philips in and the other was the honda bulb so you can see the difference.
both bulbs look a bit blue in the pics, but the honda bulb is more yellow and the philips is more white, pics dont really show this.

There is a big difference there. I have Nightbreakers fitted and it really made a huge improvement over the standard bulbs.

I'm sure you'll agree, it is a very worthwhile modification!!

definatley a lot better. have you changed your main beam bulb aswel ?

Yes I did, Nightbreakers in both headlights and main beam.

Not of mine no, but it was after reading this thread I decided to get mine replaced.

Uprated Dipped,Main and Side on FN2 CTR. Done!

Are these bulbs better than the HID lights? (I've always thought the HIDs very good - certainly better than the last couple of cars I've had) Excuse my ignorance here...... but I have had other cars flash me when on dipped lights, obviously thinking my full beam was on.

no not a good as HID's but are still very good.

I've been very impressed with my lights - passengers have commented on the visibility as well; I was in my brothers Clio the other day and his lights were awful, made me appreciate mine a whole lot more - gotten use to them!

I was concerned I would get flashed by other people thinking I was on high beam, but I havent had a single one.

I've replaced my high beams too, so when I am on high beam the light is excellent!

Hi all, found this thread after looking into upgrading my lights as thought the standard honda yellow ones were very poor. I was thinking of upgrading to:

Sidelights: 501 Super bright LEDS
H7 (dipped): Philips X-treme
H1 (full beam) : Philips Vision plus

However from reading some other threads about whether my car is HID or not, are these lights going to work in my Type S 57 3 door civic? As from the site above these bulbs come under the Xenon upgrade category, just wondering as fairly new to my civic and not sure about whats what?

I have seen what Honda call HID lights and they are truly an awful 'type', thye appear just to use HID bulbs with no real design change to the casing, whereas HID lights in things like BMWs use a projector, which takes things to a new level (they are superior to Honda ones easiy, from what I've seen), from what I've seen IMHO, don't bother with Honda's HID, just buy a decent set of uprated bulbs and save your cash for something else.

I agree the HIDs on the Honda aren't as good as the likes of the Bi-Xenon of BMW/Audi but they're still going to be better than any aftermarket standard bulb. I'd never had Xenons before my Civic and now I wouldn't buy another car without them!
You can spot a Civic with Xenons a mile off and IMHO they look soo much better.

Don't judge all Honda's HID headlights by the Civic's, in my opinion the HID's on the S2000 are nothing short of the best lights on any car I have ever driven.

The lights are good, no doubt but there are better systems out there, lights on the Focus ST are good.

Fitted 501 quad LED bulbs. Very white a great improvement over standard bulbs. As I do all my driving in the Highlands and on a lot of dark rural roads I have just ordered a set of Osram Nightbreakers H7 & H1 so will get to give them a real test
