the blue lighting kit is great
and it is a LOT brighter than the little blue LED up in the roof over the gearstick (and yes, I'm pretty sure you get that in the Sport)

The blue LED can be made to appear a bit brighter - check the how to section - and is a 10 minute job (basically slightly enlarge the hole it shines through)

back to the ambient lighting...
Personally, I think it's great

Not entirely sure if it's £70 (think that's the price) worth of great though...

There is a DIY solution which acheives pretty much the same effect, though I can't remember if if fades out like the Honda one does.
Lot cheaper though

Again, check out the How To section, and I think a few threads in here

I paid £130 to have the blue ambient lighting installed on my 'old' 06 Civic 1.8 SE, I must admit that the effect of the lighting is nowhere as near as good or as dramatic as is shown in the brochure, which to he honest IMO was a complete disappointment and wish I had not actually had them installed as after a period of a few months it really did not make any difference.

On a brighter note (pun intended), it does add to the resale value as I have just traded my 1.8 SE for a new Type S GT and actually got a higher trade in price than I actually got the car for in the first place!! (the 1.8 SE was an ex fleet car that my Honda dealer had just got back from the fleet company). Granted this may have also had something to do with the aftermarket Honda HFT kit installed too but I would say that the lighting had something to do with it also!

It really is personal opinion though, I spoke to several saleman at Honda before I purchased my original car and they were of split opinion (but that may have had something to do with the fact that their Civic's had these installed FOC!). Some said that it was fantastic and a worthwhile installation, but others said it was a waste. My opinion at the time was that they were good but after having them in the car for 18 months they really weren't worth it..

well I think is your one choice will you installed them because tastes are different....like TTDegs said you can see some works in how to section

Personally would go for made ones then orginal since you'll save almost double on home made....I have this ones almost 5 months now and they are great....no problems with them but they are little lighter blue then orginal ones.....these perfectly fit the hole where orginal should go...

The original red ambient lighting in my CTR does look good, it fades up and down at different times, and it was included in the deal.

If I'd have paid £200 for it though? Probably not.

I would say it is worth it. In my blue EX the matching blue light illuminates all the footwells. When my wife first saw it all I heard for 5 minutes was Wow! Look at this! it's all blue lights - come and look etc etc.

Don't forget Pottsys "How To", for making the little blue light on the roof a bit brighter.
And my one, for what its worth, :- a tiny clear plastic cup, off of the top of some pens for example. My reseach was a try out, using a contact lens.
I fixed it over the light, with one eye not working.
