You see, Leeroy, this site features not one, but two human search engines. Just one is a bit slower than the other.

Gents, thanks but not able to follow the instructions. Noting that most of the info passed along it seams to me is for the Type R. The pics I have seen do not match the set up of my 1.6 L engine. If you go to Honda.com.au you will see that the Civic VTI probably looks slightly different than UK version (I think).

Is there anybody who has adjusted their headlights on a 4 door civic like the one I have.

Hi Leeroy,

The info is for the 3 and 5 door versions of the 8th Gen Civic, the ones that are by far the most common in Europe.

Maybe an owner of the Hybrid or petrol 4 door (available in a few countries in Europe) can help.

OK thanks, I wrote too quick. I have a VTI-L and it is 1.8L. I will continue to monitor this site as there is some really good work/suggestions within that I may be able to extrapolate to my version. I'll look into US or CDN sites also as they have exact versions like mine (but in reverse).

You have to set them within the legal requirements.

I looked into the legal height thing about a year ago...

Back in the day, it was possible to get the details, find a bit of flat ground and use a bit of chalk on a wall to sort it all out

From my (lack of) results when searching the 'net, it would appear that someone somewhere is trying to prevent DIY fixes like this, as whilst I got umpty ump thousands of hits about the fact that they had to set to the legal requirements, I could find NO reference to what that requirement was

I means lets be honest i know what is aid before but if just use some common sense and ensure it doesnt blind anyone, even if you do get pulled by the police you could play it off it was like that already lol

Nice find Dan!

Think this is the relevant line:

Vehicle will FAIL if:
For Headlamp centres more than 850mm above the ground. The beam horizontal cut-off line (pitch) is not between -1.25% and -2.75% line (green lines).
For Headlamp centres not more than 850mm above the ground. The beam horizontal cut-off line (pitch) is not between -0.5% and -2% line (red lines).

only minor issue is that it doesn't say at what distance from the wall that the car should be, to get the 0.5% and 2%

Is the % figure a slope angle (like hills) so 2% is a 1 in 50 slope and 0.5% a 1 in 200 slope? If that is the case, at 2m away from the wall, the cut off line is between 1cm & 4cm below the centre of the headlights.

aha!
could well be alan, good spot

makes it a quite tricky DIY measurment in that case - which I guess could be why they stopped publishing it everywhere...

As long as they are not pointing up then they should be OK as 1 in 200 is a pretty minimal slope.

Has anyone else noticed (just want to make sure it is not just me) (oh and tis is for everyone that doesnt have HID's) that the projected distance for the highbeams is very poor, i have noticed when going down country lanes it is very difficult to see a distance ahead of you and it seems to have a minimal improvment on throw distance compared to dipped beams
