You live in the home of BMW, Mecr, Audi etc all of which now suply cars with LEDs as standard. How do the German police cope with that?

My fathers M3 has the LED tail lights, look smart but when they go you have to replace the whole thing at a few hundred!

I think we don't have any law regulations about led bulbs, so I hope they're legal in Poland. I didn't know it was so restricted in other countries.

There may be EU legislation - I would check this.

If the police actually care or not is a different question.

I must check it. But I see many cars with aftermarket HID kits which are illegal for sure and police seem not to pay much attention...

O - też Poznaniak Be careful, if you encounter German police you're really scr*wed - they simply take away your car and then you need a good lawyer if you get caught with any illegal mods (illegal = not homologated for your vehicle). It depends of how careful they check, obviously, but is it worth the risk?

I'm not saying LEDs are illegal for road use, but many aftermarket LEDs are. THe chance of getting caught may be low, yes, but then it's _big_ trouble (at least in Germany - they tend to be "a little more Catholic than the Pope himself" here)

I thought that maybe the case. I suppose if Honda wanted they could stick LEDs on any of their range but they choose not to for one reason or another

My suspicion is they have long-term supply agreements with bulb manufacturers and/or LEDs in decent quality aren't available in such large amounts (or as cheaply as bulbs)

I seem to remember someone trying some 24? LED cluster lights for the brake lights a bit back (which didn't fit as they were too big) but I'm sure there are a lot more options now, and wondered if anyone had tried them?
I tried them some time ago but they were a fraction too large:

Rear Indicator Lights

We had a discussion regarding the glare of the sunshine reflecting and making them difficult to see by following cars.

I suspect the cheapness is the key, look at the price of LED aftermarket bulbs compared with tungsten filament ones :-/

I fitted them in my Jag as well as the silver indicator lights and also LED repeaters and it certainly went through the MOT's without a hitch but my friends just had his taken out at the MOT centre as a failure item - cost him £0.69p which was good and they placed the LED ones in his ashtray. Never had them checked by the police - probably just as well.
