Optional Fog Lamps

Hey all,

Getting my Type S next week .
Not a GT unfort. Was wondering if anyone knew how much approx the dealer would charge for the fogs option.

Also getting a bit worried about all this talk of thin paint. But its too late, done now.

Have a look at the thread about the glass on the fogs breaking before you "invest" in them.

There is a pic in this thread. (Although a black triangle on a black car doesn't show up that well )

My NHB Sport has no fog's and IMO I think it looks cool without them and as FWH said I don't have to worry about the glass smashing!

I think there a waste of time and money as most people either don't use them at all or have them on all the time to look "cool"

The ones on my van, I used them in fog they were not much help at all!

Some manufacturers are moving away from them now, if you buy a new 3 or 5 M series BMW they don't have them!!

Nice one Palindrome,

Making me feel much better about it.Don't think i'll bother with the fogs now.
Just another qucik question.Do the fogs have plastics covers or are they just blank holes?

They have covers on and the triangular design of the car shaped into them!

Good luck for next week mate I'm sure you can't wait and the weather hopefully will be good.
Can't speak highly enough about the Dynamat and the Infinity speakers, probably the best improvement I've made!

Thankfully the storms were already on the car, they sold it to me really, and have had a lot of positive comments about them, really suit a black car!

Enjoy your new car mate!

I haven't got 'em......

On my type S and I think the car looks better for it.
Every car I've owned had fogs and I never used them.
Type S's have a colour coded surround and a matching mesh effect inner detail so it does match well.

Ideal for CAI/brake hose feed for future modifications

You could use the existing blank and make the anti smash plexi cover and retro fit some mini lights if you wanted for far less than OEM

To be honest I don't blame you for not wanting them, bearing in mind how many members have had broken ones.

The M doesn't have them because they consider it's a sports car that you wouldn't drive too fast in foggy weather, also they use the 'holes' left to fit engine and brake ducting instead, as has been the case on many M cars since their inception (look at the E30 M3 for example, it had prominent cooling vents).

I didn't realise the Type-S had any difference in the foglights or the foglight area than the 5-door or Type-R?
