Smashed fog light
I also have a broken fog light, drivers side. My car is 8 months old and 36000 km on the clock. It just appeared when parked. Ordered the new light on 26th of september, still no reaction from my dealer. 4000 km to go and than the car will be in de work shop for a service. I hope the light can be installed at the same time.
It is a company car so the costs are covered by the insurance. |

re: Smashed Fog Light
I just thought I was unlucky but it would seem as if this is a common issue
I have one, passengers side Age of car: 1 year Mileage: 15000 I noticed it as I got out of the car for work one morning, I had washed the car the previous day and it wasn't like that then. The glass was totally cracked but with no sign that it was caused by a stone, I think i would have probably heard it smash had It happened whilst driving. Waiting for a quote from my local Honda garage now, and not looking forward to what it's probably gonna cost me! Last edited by Philis : 7th December 2007 at 20:28. |

Phoned Honda UK. Had a winge at them. They weren't interested.
They reckoned nobody else has reported this issue. They put it down to bad luck. Come on Honda, this is a design fault. I think what is happening, the fog lamps or not fully secured, i.e. they move around in the bumper mould. They are shattering from bumps and vibrations in the road. Every other make of car I have seen on the road with fog lights are fitted with tough glass. It's just common sense! Number broken: One Age of car: 12 Months Mileage:9000 "it just appeared" Cost of replacement: Went to breakers yard. 41.00 Last edited by aafw64 : 10th December 2007 at 20:02. |

fog light
just replaced broken light, job was quite easy to do, bought replacement pair off e-bay for £75.00 , have all honda markings and fit ok , covered fogs with a few layers of clear film the same as they use to protect glass from shattering, may not stop the light from breaking next time, but at least I should be able to see if a stone hit the film or not as the case may be.

Number broken: One (Haven't replaced it yet)
Age of car: Less than a month (when it broke) Mileage: 500 When driving, or "it just appeared": It just appeared, although I noticed it after a drive down to Exeter. Didn't hear it go or anything. Cost of replacement: Picture (attach) It didn't crack, more shattered but stayed in tact, until the drive home when it completely went (again I didn't hear it happen, just when I got home the glass was gone except for a few small shards) |

Me too, exactly the same pattern, no sound, no indication. Just looked one day and it was broken but remained intact.
Number broken: One (Haven't replaced it yet) Age of car: 8 months Mileage: 7500 "it just appeared": Cost of replacement: £75 pair eBay, try to self fit (although having read the thread will attempt via warranty). I have a theory. We have numerous road humps where I live, and despite slow driving, the bottom skirt of the bumper regularly catches, surely this motion will flex the bumper upwards, creating a compression within the bumper, hence the regular breaking pattern we are seeing? (Apologies if this is already within the thread) Last edited by fire-lighter : 22nd January 2008 at 10:45. Reason: Adding photo |

Front Fog - stone damage?
Exactly the same
Car fine one day passenger side fog lamp broken without any warning or stone damages etc Number broken: 1 Age of car: 18 months (2nd owner from new owned 8 months) Mileage: 22000 Miles When driving, or "it just appeared": Just appeared Cost of replacement: £140 Picture (attach) none taken. Believe after reading this forum that too many occurrences may mean some kind of fault or failure and that lights should have some perspex protective cover on them to prevent breaking as they are not recessed enough from location on front lower valance. ![]() |

Age of car: 16 mths Mileage: 10k When driving, or "it just appeared": just appeared Cost of replacement: 54 quid for two lights off ebay (dealer 92 quid for one) Picture (attach) I have just been in touch with Honda UK and they were totally dismissive, said it was made of glass and therefore prone to damage from any debris! I said it was a coincidence that so many people seem to have had the same problem!! Going to try to change it myself this afternoon! |

Age of car: 1 year Mileage: 32000 When driving, or "it just appeared": IJA Cost of replacement: Not replaced yet, quoted £130 !!!!!!!!! These are either vulnerably placed, or crap quality, or both. Honda has a problem here, but I doubt they will take it on, and of course, it's a nice little earner............. |

Age of car: 18 months Mileage: 37 000 km When driving, or "it just appeared": One day they were fine, passenger side completely shattered to pieces the next. Cost of replacement: Not replaced yet. Been quoted "somewhere between € 150-200" Apparently not applicable for warranty work due to there being a bit of glass inside the fog light. |

Age of car: 22 Months Mileage: 13,000 When driving, or "it just appeared": No.1 in Dec 07 appeared on a journey home, -6 outside ambient, fog lights were used briefly - no stones heard hitting anything, but that's not to say it didn't get hit by one, cost to replace £105 inc vat and fitting (not bad compared to others). No.2 appeared last week whilst sat parked, cracked between during the morning, that corner of the car had been in direct sunlight -1 outside ambient plus wind-chill after a 2 hour journey, cost to replace £22.50 + vat for labour. Cost of replacement: see above Picture (attach) Yet to be d/l from camera for No.2. Last edited by HondaRob : 19th February 2008 at 11:04. |
