ES Headlights
Hello all,
There has been a lot of (and confusing at the same time) discussion about the EX lights. I have a ES and hate the yellow look but also I thnk the visibility is VERY poor! I want to replace these so could somone give me a definitive answer on what bulb sizes I need? Is it the same as stated in the manual or is the manual wrong as it is for the EX? P.S. Feel so left out not having a EX!!! |

Not sure what you mean about the manual being wrong?
The EX has HID (Xeneon) headlights which are gas-discharge lamps and are electronically controlled. The arc unit contains a gas consisting largely of xenon, that is ignited by a dedicated high-voltage circuit. To upgrade the ES to true Xeneon would be fairly expensive, there are aftermarket kits, but I'm not sure if they are suitable for the Civic. You can get Xeneon filled replacement bulbs, these tend to only change the colour of the light, not make the headlights any brighter. Hope this helps. |

apologies I dont think I was clear in what I was after...
I am not after replacing it for Xenons or HIDS. Wanted to replace with the 30/50% brighter whiter bulbs such as Osram and Phillips. IN terms ofthe manual being wrong , in a few posts there is a comment that the manual is incorrect in that it states H7 bulbs where in fact it is H1 you need. |

I have not found the ES lights a problem at all, they seem to be fine for me. I might at some point change them for the whiter lamps, if a bulb goes on it's own, but I am happy for now.
Fitting aftermarked HID kits is illegal and not worth the bother. |

I have the Philips X-treme H7 bulbs fitted in the dipped beam and the Philips Vision Plus H1 in the main beam, and it makes quite a difference to the amount of light on the road.
I got them from http://www.autolamps-online.com |

I brought the Osram pure white's and they look great.
I don't think anyone has "complained" about their choice, depends if you want blue or not (I decided on white) |

remember do not touch the lamp as the grease from your fingers can cause the lamps to blow.
(apologies if people all ready know this) . just helping people who do not kind regards peter |

Civic headlamps tested : autobild.de
Civic headlamps not at all that bad compared to Audi TT, BMW 3-series and other more expensive cars, some even with Xenon.
"....believe it or not, impressive lots of light coming from the Civic's small headlamps..." http://www.autobild.de/test/zubehoer...tikel_id=12581 |
