I have the blue footwell lighting. They stay on all the time when the exterior lights are on. When the doors are opened they go brighter and gradually dim - but stay on.

I bought this for the colour not the smell, which is just as well as it doesn't really smell of anything. It plugs into the cigarette lighter and stays on all the time giving off a nice blue glow at night. Got it from Halfords - £6.99 I think. Apologies in advance if these pictures are too big/small etc as I'm not too hot with this posting pics lark!

i have not seen the honda kit so I cannot compare but it is a good job and the lighting floods the footwell. I bought another led (smaller and more powerful than the strip apparently) and I will fit this on sat and then post details

I was in my brothers Beetle last night and he has fitted blue footwell lights, £7.99 from Halfords, they look ugly if you can see them, but the light is good. Plugs into the cig lighter, and has a push switch on the top of the bit sticking in the plug. I can't personally find it on the website, but they don't have it in the Bicester shop either but they do in Oxford. One thing they do have for £32.99 is a 4 LED set to light up the car interior, they are also selling coloured festoon bulbs.

I am seriously thinking of ripping out the blue LEDs I am gonna look like all thise F'ing oiks in their w**ky little Corsas and Focus who have managed to save £10 from their Giro.

Its easy enough to get a £10 halfords led kit and wire it into the lighting circuit. I have done my wife red MX5 with red LED footwell lights that come on with the cars lights and included a cutout switch to deactivate them.
It would be much better on the civic to tap into the manufactures power supply so the lights will come on bright with the interior lights then dim in time with them.
Do they also come on with the car lights? or is it just with the interior lights.

P.S. have done the blue interior light for £4-50 thanks for the info on that one

They do. And go to a half bright with the headlamps on.

I shall have to go out with my meter and see what the voltages coming out of that connector are with different light settings on the car. I have some spare LED kits will try it out to see. Probably not till Sunday have to go to the beach tommorrow and fill the car up with sand!

Just tried out the blue interior lights it brilliant. I would suggest fitting it in the dark so you can play with the angle of it otherwise you just have to open the cover again to adjust it, like I just did.

Here`s a link to the instructions for the ambient lights for the american civic. You may find them useful. it shows where the connection to the fusebox is.

going to run a lead off the back of the cigarette lighter to the fuse box area and put a socket there to plug my phone/sat nav in at the same time. Will take photos and post them here somewhere.

OK had a bit of a play. The big question is what the green connector plugs into. There is nothing there on my car, I can see a mounting hole on the bracket there. could that be a control box for the LED's. That would explain the cost of the kit.
The fuse box connector, the top right is a 12v with car side/head lights. Looking at the previous photos that signal goes to whatever the green plug is in. The bottom left I dont know couldnt get anything from it.
If someone wanted to put in LED's that just come on with side/head lights then use the top right pin and a local earth and you will be fine. I think the whole singing and dancing setup will need the proper honda kit. We need someone to buy one and let us know for sure if it have a box in it.
