the leds you have used wont be as bright as the strips ive used, and my strips have worked out at the same price as the leds from halfords.plus the strips are alot easier to fix in the foot wells and the rear seats. ive got some pics of my dimmer location, will post the pics.

was in a bike shop today, and they had led kits & a controll box, had the option to control 6 set of lights, with built in dimmer and flashing of the leds at different flash rates & all had seperate on/off buttons, and was only £15.

i see you are from birmingham, you must have loads of car wholesalers near you?

If you know of any please let me know!! I just don't know any to go to so halfords is my only option

I too added a switched dimmer, I just put mine in the armrest storage so I can reach it when driving.. Well please with the mod though, for the money its an excellent effect! Just think it would be better with the LED strips rather than LED's..

the only place i went to was NT wholesale, only went a couple of times and they may have the leds as they sold everything else. leds were not out when i went there but the wholesaler we have in p'boro is similar to NTs so may be worth a go as it on your door step.

I have my LED strips installed and connected with interior lights so they dimmed off. Now I only need to figure out how to connect them with glove box light?

We tried several ways of conecting the lights to the 2 lighting ccts and in the end it ws easier to add a second set of led's to the glove compartment lights.

I still think we can acheive this, and John's (Is that your real name? )circuit looks feasable. Didn't someone have trouble with the int. light coming on when using the glovebox feed.

Also, it must be posible to emulate the offical Honda ambient lighting controller box or reverese engineer it?- There can't be that much in it, Stef can you help?

If we can do it that would be great! but using 2 sets of leds, wasn't exactly costly... I wait in anticipation!

Hello,

I'm new on this forum and i'm from the netherlands. I gonna get my civic 1.8 sport (black) next week.

I allready orderd the blue leds int. lights (front & rear), but i also wanna have leds in the footwell. There are a lot of good topics for building your own ambient lighting, but is anybody further with the solution to dim the footwell lights by turning on the headlight? (with one set of leds)

My electric background isn't quit well, so i'm looking for a 'how to' that isn't very difficult. A electric diagram or tips are welcome.

My diagram must work, so far i don’t have time to get relay and test? Better a solid state relay ??

+/- 12 inter come from ceiling as shown in „Gray52” pictures, the lights come on with interior. Then you need 12V with headlights. Interior dimming is with -12 so +12 is always on so you need some relay to give LED with headlights also -12 not +12?

Also needed a resistor, that a LED are dimmed when driving at night. May use a variable or fixed?

Is there also a way, that the footwell dims when the key contact turned on. And not when you turn on the headlights

So the following things happen:

Open door/unlock car: Interior lights and footwell leds shine max.
close door/lock car: interior lights and footwell leds fade out.
Turn on contact key/start engine: interior lights fade out and footwell leds dims to a visible, but not bright status.

Grtz

Yes you need a 12V which is on with ignition. But day is too bright to see them.

Ok, so thats the reason that everybody want it to turn on by the headlights.

But if i wanna turn on by ignition, must i connect it directly to special ambient connector on the fuse box? And how wil it auto dim (to a visibly view at dark) by ignition.

Sorry for the many questions, but i wanna make a nice and proper honda-ambient-light-look-a-like .

Grtz

Reason that everybody want it to turn on by the headlights is that the original ambient is working in max when doors open and dimmed with headlights. If you want them light with an ignition you may take the power anywhere you like, important is only that it powered with ignition.
