Honda should be making (or installing/supplying on) lights that are fit for purpose. Something tells me the accountants had a say in the specification of these lights (as always). What is required is someone to commission a report from a respected professional in whatever field is relevant to this issue (Glass specialist/ Automotive Engineer...etc) and then present it to Honda and ask for their response (can guess what that will be - assuming you even get a response). Next action would be to threaten legal action (possible through the small claims court). Obviously taking this any further would be very expensive and extremely risky - something that the large corporates know and play on. Considering the number of people this is affecting it wouldn't be that expensive if a group joined together to fund a report and went down the small claims route - only needs one win.......(I'm no expert on small claims procedures and rules and there may be some issue with a group following this procedure) In an ideal world we wouldn't be in this position! This is definitely a fault and should be covered by warranty
Funniliy enough my front fog lights have smashed spontaneously as well. This cannot be a co-incidence and there must definitely be a weakness in the design. I am about to get them replaced at a cost of £300 (not cheap) I personally think that if enough users write to honda individually and publise the response, and use the media (for example watchdog) maybe we will be able to claim the cost of these repairs back.

Ive had 2 fog lamps smash in 2 years. I never heared either get broken but assumed it must have been a stone or something. The first time I just took it as bad luck (£170.00 to fix) but this time I suggested to the dealer that there must be a design fault as in 25 years of driving I have never had any lights smash on a car or motorbike. Considering that this seems a regular occurance, Honda should be re designing this as it clearly isnt fit for purpose.
I do rate the car however despite the recalls (filler cap, rear suspension, squeaky dash, handbrake, bumpstops, tailgate struts, squeeky front window, clutch cylinder etc) |

mine went at the weekend whilst cleaning, phoned KIRAN at HONDA UK as advised but she denied any knowledge of the problem, dealer shafted me and said gotta be a stone, after admitting its stupid they are glass, what is going on with this company?
top of jd power survey my ar*e! No consistency whatsoever, huk giving good will gestures to some and fobbing others off. Sadly i feel my R-GT is gonna have to go due to supposedly the most reliable manufacturer putting glass 4 inches from the ground and making them technically inept to deal with cold water after being switched on. LOVE the car, LOVE the ENGINE HATE ruddy HONDA AND HUK! |

I checked my 2008 1.8 and the fogs are flexibly mounted. I can wiggle the lamps a little in all directions as if the have soft mounts. Is this usual? are some of the problems caused by say vibration from the bodywork? I cannot understand the stone chip theory because you would expect stone chip damage over that area of the body as well as on the lamps
